1. Designed to look like a giant seashell
The villa’s architecture is inspired by a caracol (seashell), which is why the walls, windows, and roofs are curved and organic. Even the interior design follows the ocean theme with shell details and marine shapes. 

2. Built by a Mexican artist/architect
The house was created by Octavio Ocampo, known for surrealist designs. The building is considered a small architectural landmark on Isla Mujeres. 

3. One of the most famous Airbnbs in Mexico
Because of its unusual design, it has become one of the most photographed and viral Airbnb properties in the Mexican Caribbean. Tourists often stop outside just to take photos. 

4. The property actually has two “shell” buildings
There is a main house with bedrooms and living space plus a smaller guest shell house with a bathroom and bedroom shaped like a giant conch. 

5. It sits on the southern side of Isla Mujeres
The villa faces the Caribbean Sea and includes a private pool, terrace, and ocean views, making it a popular romantic getaway for couples or small groups. 

✅ Fun fact: Many people visit just to photograph the exterior because it looks like something from a fantasy movie.
