🌅En vísperas del Festival del Agua del Altiplano Potosino-Wirikuta, que se celebrará del 6 al 8 de agosto, conversaremos sobre la crisis hídrica que está transformando la región y sobre las respuestas que están construyendo quienes viven, trabajan y defienden este territorio.
La sobreexplotación del acuífero y la expansión de la agricultura intensiva amenazan el agua de las comunidades, los ecosistemas del desierto y uno de los territorios sagrados más importantes para el pueblo Wixárika.
El festival está pensado, ante todo, como un espacio para las comunidades del Altiplano Potosino, a través de conversatorios con académicos especialistas en el tema, actividades artísticas, culturales y deportivas se busca el encuentro, compartir información, conversar sobre lo que está pasando con el agua y buscar respuestas colectivas. También se busca llamar a las autoridades a cumplir la ley y fortalecer las políticas públicas para proteger este recurso vital. 💧

🌵 Wirikuta Mobilizes: A Festival to Defend Water 💧
In the lead-up to the Altiplano Potosino–Wirikuta Water Festival, taking place August 6–8, we will discuss the water crisis transforming the region—and the responses being developed by those who live, work and defend this territory.
Aquifer overexploitation and the expansion of intensive agriculture are threatening community water supplies, desert ecosystems and one of the most sacred territories of the Wixárika people.
The festival is designed first and foremost as a space for the communities of the Altiplano Potosino. Through conversations with academic experts, along with artistic, cultural and sports activities, it will offer a place to come together, share information, discuss what is happening to the region’s water and seek collective solutions. It will also call on authorities to enforce the law and strengthen public policies protecting this vital resource. 💧
