On May 19th, Gigi received a letter from Louisiana State Penitentiary informing her that her visitation privileges were being removed indefinitely. The reason given was that she conducted a podcast interview with Michael on March 29th without prior approval from the DOC communications director.
The problem? The directive requiring people to contact the communications director was not posted until the very same day the interview took place. There was no warning, no opportunity to correct the mistake, and no way for Gigi to have known she was violating a rule that had just been implemented.
As a result, Gigi has lost the ability to visit or even video call Michael indefinitely.
She is currently appealing and following every proper protocol, but this situation highlights a much bigger issue: visitation should never be used as a punishment tactic, especially when human connection is proven to support rehabilitation, mental health, and family stability.
I created a petition on Change.org because this injustice affects more than just one family — it affects an entire community of loved ones trying to maintain connection through impossible circumstances.
