The concrete house was built around several clusters of trees, and windows were carefully positioned to provide "green views". The glazing also ushers in daylight and enables shadows to dance across the walls.

Custom finishes in the home were carefully considered and contribute to the serene atmosphere and "sculpted monolithic interior".

Villa Petricor sits on a slender, angled site with tropical vegetation in the beach town of Tulum. The 300-square-metre house is oriented to take advantage of prevailing winds.  Named after the "earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil", the dwelling is meant to evoke feelings of renewal and stillness.

The development has a parking area, service areas and a bicycle port. The use of local stone, chukum coatings and carpentry in hardwoods from the region recreate a warm and natural environment, where the natural materials and colors of the region endure.

The building is located in the back of the lot, leaving the common areas in front due to its optimal solar exposure. This allowed us to preserve a maximum of existing trees and recreate a tropical front garden, which serves as a visual buffer between the street and the development. 
The entrance to the complex is achieved through the garden area, with a small reception, lounge and walkways, planted with endemic vegetation.

A trip to Greece inspired the style of the apartments, some with their own swimming pools, small tropical gardens, some with waterfalls, and intimate and pleasant rooms.   White stone and natural materials from the area helped make the finishes even more idyllic. "Each apartment feels like a home, with large outdoor areas and private pools."

Altar Tulum is a residential project of seven apartments, in which four of them have a 1 or 2 bedrooms on ground floor, and three of them are penthouses with 2 to 3 bedrooms on 3 level floors.

“The idea as always in our projects is to break with common standards, not to make the building look like an apartment complex, but to create a building that is not recognizable.”

The objective was to use materials that age with dignity so that with the passing of time the architecture acquires character and a deeper sense of belonging. The different volumes of the complex are scattered along the lot, between the trees and stone paths, which provide a sensation of being in a small village in the Mayan jungle.

The hotel has five 50m2 lodges, formed by a double height room, a mezzanine or “tapanco”, a terrace and an indoor-outdoor bathroom. At the back of the lot, the social areas are located, with a dining space and yoga pavilion hanging in cantilever over the pool. The main idea of this water element is to be extruded from the ground in between the vegetation.

The units that are located on the first floor have their own private rooftop, which is characterized as an open space that has a pergola made of wood from the region and a lounge deck area with a lounge pool. This space allows you to enjoy the beautiful surrounding jungle, as well as witness the best sunsets in Tulum.

Aktal Tulum was born from the concept of respect for a founded land. The word "Aktal" comes from the Mayan vocabulary word "Founder". The objective of this project was to create a living space which would represent the natural wealth of the area, adapting to the environment where nature is a fundamental part of the design.
