August 3 Shooting Anniversary Events, Orange Light Tribute
On August 3rd, El Paso will observe the anniversary of the 2019 mass shooting with a series of events. These include a Day of Resilience Ceremony at the County of El Paso Healing Garden in Ascarate Park, featuring sound baths, yoga, and meditation, followed by a name reading and light beam ceremony. Additionally, the El Paso Museum of History will display a video narration and compilation of the events, alongside a display of objects from the original memorial. The community is also encouraged to participate in lighting porches and windows with orange lights in remembrance.
Orange Light Tribute: Residents are encouraged to light their porches and windows with orange lights each evening leading up to August 3rd, and at 8:30 PM on the day itself, in remembrance of the victims. Several public art installations along I-10 and Airway Boulevard, as well as near the Abraham Chavez Theatre, will also be illuminated in orange.
