💛 𝗔 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: "𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗔 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲"
Every adoption carries a story worth telling. Today, one of our PetFinder.my members, Angel.C.Y.A, shares the heartwarming journey of how she found — and was found by — her beloved Ollie. In her own words:

🐾 "𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘂𝗽 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸."
This is the very first photo I took with 𝗢𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲 — the day she came home, and the day I made her a promise: this is your forever home.
But her story really begins with another dog. Before Ollie, there was 𝗡𝗶𝘂 𝗡𝗶𝘂 — a Shih Tzu I rescued off the streets, who gave me seven beautiful years. When she crossed the rainbow bridge in April 2024, at 13 years old, it broke me. Yet I knew my home wasn't whole without a furry soul in it, and I believe Niu Niu would have wanted another dog to know the same love and safety she did.
From the very start, I was certain of one thing: 𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁, 𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽. The more I read about illegal breeding mills, and the more abandoned dogs I saw on the streets, the surer I became that adoption was the only path for me.
I wasn't searching for a breed — just the right soul. I scrolled for weeks across PetFinder, Facebook and XiaoHongShu, until one day, Ollie's profile appeared on PetFinder. She was already 2 years old, and something about her reached straight into my heart. I applied to her previous owner… and found out I was one of the 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝟮𝟬 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 hoping to give her a home. When the day came that she was finally mine, I brought her home.
The early months were far from easy. Ollie was timid, anxious, incredibly clingy, and struggled with serious food aggression. She was young and bursting with energy — so different from my gentle, settled Niu Niu. Thankfully, I work as a freelancer, so I could be there for her as she adjusted. She amazed me in small ways: within days, she'd mastered the p*e tray. Other things took much longer — there were moments she hurt me, and days I felt completely drained. But giving up was never, ever on the table.
Slowly, she blossomed. The timid little girl learned to trust people again, and grew into the most loving, affectionate, confident dog I know. Watching her learn to enjoy life has been the most rewarding experience of mine.
In 2025, she became an ambassador for OHMYPET! EXPO Malaysia, her face smiling down from billboards across the city. Every time I passed one, I thought about how far she'd come — from a dog waiting for a second chance, to a face that inspires others to adopt. 💛 Ollie has even built her own little community online, with over 𝟯,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 (follow her at ), where we share her daily adventures and our adoption journey — hoping to nudge more people toward adoption.
Adopting Ollie didn't just change her life. It changed mine.
Rescue dogs don't need perfect owners. They simply need someone patient, understanding, and unwilling to give up on them. If our story moves even one more family to choose adoption, then every hard day was worth it. ❤️
