Carrying bags around campus can be inconvenient and traditional lockers don’t always feel secure.

The next introduces a smart locker system designed for schools and universities, using Internet of Things (IoT) technology to improve safety and convenience. The system works through an interactive kiosk that lets students register easily and store their belongings securely.

With features such as fingerprint access, flexible storage duration, and automated time tracking, the smart locker offers a safer and more efficient alternative to traditional lockers. Through a working prototype, the chapter shows how campuses can upgrade to modern, secure, and user-friendly locker systems using smart technology.

Technology is changing how we live and how we age.

This looks at how smart homes can support elderly people to live safely, comfortably, and independently. While many countries are adopting smart homes for ageing populations, Malaysia still relies mainly on traditional living arrangements.

With Generation X becoming the elderly by 2030, this chapter highlights the need to rethink elderly living in Malaysia and explores how smart homes and ageing in place can support active and independent ageing in Society 5.0.
