Malaysia is testing a new toll system using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)

No more tapping cards or slowing down at toll booths. Trial ongoing at 13 toll plazas nationwide, works across all lanes

First live test in October 2025, Penang, full rollout expected by 2027

This marks Malaysia’s first step towards a Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) system, similar to Singapore’s ERP.
