George Town Festival is an annual festival held in Penang in honour of George Town’s inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. The annual festival celebrates the state’s diverse arts and culture scene encompassing dance, music, theatre, visual art, film, photography and more. This year’s festival runs from August 1st till August 9th, under the theme Beyond Boundaries. This year’s line up consists of over 40 programmes by artists from 10 different countries.

Kata & Co is a curated literary pop-up, happening in Hin Bus Depot, Penang. Bringing together a unique group of local independent publishers, zine makers and booksellers in this three days, this event features a wide selection of titles, including local history books, independent fiction, and handmade zines. Kata & Co is organised in partnership with Penang Art District and Hin Bus Depot to help grow the local creative scene and create more spaces for independent publishing in northern Malaysia.

It is housed at Floral Tea Mansion on Hutton Lane, showcasing the history, traditions and artistic heritage of the Malays in Penang. Opened in December 2015, the gallery occupies both lower and upper floors of the mansion.
