🔒 **ONE UI 9.0 UPDATE: THE 13‑ATTEMPT POLICY – WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW**
Samsung’s upcoming One UI 9.0 update brings a change to device security settings that you may want to be aware of.
đź“Ś **How it works:**
▪️ After **13 consecutive wrong PIN, pattern or password entries**, the device will lock permanently to further unlock attempts
▪️ Gradual time delays are already applied from the 5th attempt onwards, extending up to 24 hours before the 13th try
▪️ Once locked, the only way to regain access is to perform a **full factory reset**, which deletes all data stored on the device
▪️ Samsung Support cannot bypass or reverse this lock remotely, even with proof of ownership
▪️ Samsung states this is designed to block brute‑force attacks and unauthorised access attempts
⚠️ **Important points to note:**
▪️ Accidental taps, wet hands, screen glitches or children using your phone could trigger this limit
▪️ If your phone is lost or stolen, it prevents others from guessing your passcode – but you will still need to reset it to regain access
▪️ Any data not backed up will be lost permanently
