Statement on the Passing of the Late Mr. Edwin Michael from Kampar Daily

Kampar Daily, on behalf of the Faculty of Arts & Social Science of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), the Department of Journalism, and the academic community, notifies with the bitterest grief to all colleagues, students, alumni, and friends that Mr. Edwin Michael, esteemed lecturer of the Department of Journalism, Faculty of Arts & Social Science of UTAR, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on 8 August 2025 while in the midst of his devoted service to the cause of education, the advancement of journalistic excellence, and the well-being of the Kampar community.

He devoted his entire life to the advancement of journalistic education, the pursuit of academic excellence, and the nurturing of future generations of media professionals. With unwavering energy, he worked day and night for the growth of UTAR, the success of his students, the strengthening of his colleagues’ bonds, and the betterment of the Kampar community. His passing is an immeasurable loss to the Department of Journalism, the Faculty of Arts & Social Science, and all who had the privilege to know him.

The late Mr. Edwin Michael was a pillar of academic integrity and an unyielding champion of truth in journalism. His scholarly works enriched the field, his lectures inspired critical thought, and his mentorship cultivated not only skill but also the ethical backbone essential to the profession. Through his warmth and generosity, he fostered a strong comradeship among colleagues, making the Department of Journalism not just a workplace but a family.

His steadfast support for Kampar Daily was a testament to his belief in the power of independent, community-centered journalism. He offered guidance, accreditation, and encouragement, helping to elevate the platform as a credible and vibrant voice for Kampar.

Beyond the university, his spirit of socialism-driven community service touched the lives of countless citizens. Whether through organizing initiatives, engaging in civic discussions, or offering his expertise freely, he lived by the principle that knowledge must serve the people.

His untimely departure at a moment when journalism in Malaysia is entering a new era—an era of rapid digital transformation and renewed civic responsibility—is a loss not only to the academic fraternity but also to the community and the nation.

Arduous is the road ahead for the Department of Journalism, the Faculty of Arts & Social Science, and the Kampar community without his guiding presence, and deep is the sorrow that fills our hearts. Yet no challenge can shake our resolve to uphold the mission he championed. Under the collective commitment of his colleagues, students, and the Kampar Daily, we will turn our grief into strength, overcome the present trials, and work tirelessly toward fresh achievements in the field of journalism and in service to society.

Our comrades, students, and readers will forever hold the late Mr. Edwin Michael in the highest esteem, with unshakable faith in the principles he embodied and a noble sense of moral obligation to carry forward his vision. True to his example, we will neither falter nor delay in our pursuit of truthful reporting, academic rigor, and community service. We will resolutely defend the standards he set, preserve his undying contributions, and ensure they shine for all ages.

Though the heart of Mr. Edwin Michael has ceased to beat, his noble image, his benevolent mentorship, and his glorious record of service will be eternally remembered by all who had the privilege to know him. His legacy will remain an enduring source of inspiration in the halls of UTAR, in the spirit of Kampar Daily, and in the wider community he so dearly loved.

Boogie Adventure OutdoorStore has officially become the race partner for Kampar River Festival (KRF) 2024 following the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding with Radak Adventure on 5 April 2024, in Hotel De Cassia, Kampar.

Kampar River Festival (KRF) 2024, the largest white water festival in Malaysia, is set to make a comeback between May 24 to 26, 2024 at Kampar River, Perak, Malaysia.

Boogie Adventure will participate as the Official Race Partner by providing 40 rafting boats for the use of race participants in the festival.

The signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding was witnessed by Mr. Ahmad Suqairy Bin Alias, YDP Majlis Daerah Kampar and organiser of the IRF World Cup Series KRF 2024 in Perak, Malaysia.

博吉冒险户外商店（译名）与拉达冒险（译名）于日前（4月5日），在德卡西亚酒店签署了谅解备忘录，正式成为2024年金宝河嘉年华（KRF）的比赛合作伙伴。

2024年金宝嘉年华（KRF）是马来西亚规模最大的白水漂流嘉年华，定于2024年5月24日至26日，在马来西亚霹雳州金宝河进行。

An unusual road incident occurred last week when a car collided with an unexpected obstacle on Persiaran Agacia, resulting in damage to the vehicle.

The incident, which occurred on 12 April at approximately 7:45 p.m., highlights the challenges posed by poorly lit roads and neglected infrastructure.

The driver, who requested anonymity, was traveling along Persiaran Agacia at a moderate speed of 40 kilometers per hour towards Meadow Park when his vehicle struck a stick that was lodged in the middle of the road. Sources suggest that the road, lacking proper lighting and maintenance, presented hazardous conditions for road users, particularly during the night.

"The road was very dark, and I couldn't see anything ahead," recounted the driver. "I didn't even realize there was an obstacle until it was too late."

Upon closer examination, it was discovered that the stick had been placed strategically within a pothole, potentially serving as a makeshift warning sign for unsuspecting drivers. However, the lack of adequate lighting made it virtually impossible for road users to detect such hazards in advance.

The collision resulted in damage to the car, with the paint job of the skirting scratched and broken. While the extent of the damage was relatively minor, the incident serves as a sobering reminder of the risks associated with poorly maintained roads and insufficient lighting.

The driver also voiced his concerns regarding the condition of Persiaran Agacia, emphasizing that the road has been in a state of disrepair for an extended period. The absence of adequate lighting exacerbates the challenges faced by road users, particularly during nighttime travel.

"It's not just about this one incident. This road has been neglected by the Public Works Department for far too long," expressed by the driver. "We need better lighting and road maintenance to ensure the safety of everyone who uses it."

金宝近日交通事故频发。日前（4月12日）一辆轿车在Agacia城一带因路况因素发生意外。

该辆轿车在晚上7点45分以每小时40公里的低速行驶前往Meadow Park，却在路经Agacia城时不幸撞上位置路中间的树枝，导致该轿车前侧损坏。

这位不愿透露姓名的涉事轿车司机声称由于道路照明不足加上路况欠佳导致无法注意到该处的树枝已挡道了。

“当时路很黑暗，我什么也看不见，发现树枝的时候已经太迟了。”

据该司机观察，该树枝之所以会被置放在马路中间是为了作为该处的路洞对公路使用者的临时警告标示。该树枝也的确是插在路洞内。

此意外也提醒该地区的市民道路维护不善和照明不足所带来的风险，尤其该问题给与晚间时间的公路使用者带来不小的风险。

“这不仅仅是这一事件的事，这条路已经被公共工程局忽略太久了。我们需要更好的照明和道路维护，以确保每个道路使用者的安全。”

A minor accident involving two vehicles occurred on 15 April 2:31 PM inside UTAR Kampar campus, where the involved motorcyclist fled away from the scene.

A driver tried to turn right to the parking lot of Block L where he did not notice a motorcyclist was moving simultaneously at the rear right side of the car. This caused the contact between the car and the motorcycle.

The driver, who is a UTAR student, was shocked at the scene.

“When I turned right, I was shocked with a loud ‘bang’. I saw a motorcycle fall down from my side mirror,” the driver said.

According to the driver, he immediately found a safe spot to check his damages and tried to approach the motorcyclist for further checking. But the motorcyclist together with the passenger immediately got back on the motorcycle and fled away from the scene.

“The motorcyclists should not have been riding at the right side of the lane,” the driver complained.

The accident caused multiple scratches on the right rear fender of the car.

According to the UTAR Department of Safety and Security (Kampar Campus), the department has already identified the suspect motorcycle.

Based on the CCTV footage provided by the department, the suspect motorcycle is a red Yamaha Lagenda, with a male motorcyclist and a female passenger wearing UTAR Hospital cleaner uniform. Unfortunately the registration plate is not clear.

It is encouraged that UTAR staff and students provide useful information to Kampar Daily or the department.

拉曼大学金宝分校校园内在4月15日发生一起涉及一辆轿车和摩托车的碰撞事故。

涉事轿车司机试图右转至L座停车场，却没有注意到车右后方同时有一辆摩托车，造成了汽车和摩托车碰撞。

“当我向右转时，我被‘砰’的一声巨响吓了一跳。我从后视镜上看到一辆摩托车跌了下来。”

据该司机称，他立即检查自己轿车和摩托车的损坏情况后试图与摩托车骑士交涉。但摩托车骑士与其乘客立即重新骑上摩托车逃离现场。

“摩托车不应该在车道的右侧骑行。我的车右后方因此受损，留下严重刮痕。”

据拉曼大学安全保卫部（金宝校区）称，该部门已获得涉案摩托车骑士的线索。

根据该部门提供的监控录像，嫌疑摩托车是一辆红色雅马哈Lagenda，其中一名男性摩托车骑士和一名穿着拉曼大学医院清洁工制服的女性乘客。唯车牌不清楚。

A minor accident involving three vehicles occurred on 8 April on Jalan Batu Sinar leaves zero injuries, highlighting the dangers of blind spots on the road.

A driver tried to drive from a side road into the driveway, but due to a blind spot in his vision, failed to notice the normal straight-moving vehicle, which resulted in a series of collisions between three cars.

The incident occurred at 5:07 PM on the 8th of April on Jalan Batu Sinar near Masjid As-Suhada', amidst noticeably increased traffic flow due to the upcoming Hari Raya holiday.

According to witnesses at the scene, the black Toyota Camry involved in the accident initially turned from the housing area's small entrance on the far right and tried to enter the lane. The driver's line of sight was blocked and he failed to notice the Perodua Axia driving normally in the left lane in time, causing the two cars to collide.

"The car that was struck subsequently lost control due to the sudden impact and collided with the Toyota Vios waiting at the traffic light. This incident resulted in a three-car collision."

He said that no one was injured in the accident and that the vehicle involved was parked for investigation after the accident.

The news correspondent of Kampar Daily noticed that this area is an area prone to car accidents. Vehicles often turn on this small road. When there are many vehicles waiting for traffic lights, it is easy to restrict the driver's sight, making it difficult for them to detect the movement of vehicles in the leftmost lane.

一司机欲从小路驶入车道，但因视线盲区，而未能注意到正常直行车辆，进而导致三辆车连环相撞。

这起连环交通事故于8日下午5点07分，发生在金宝峇都昔娜路，当时正值开斋节公共假期前夕，车流量明显增加。

据现场目击证人透露，肇事车辆丰田Camry起初从最右侧小路拐弯出来欲驶入车道，司机疑因视线被挡，未能及时察觉到左侧车道上正常行驶的第二国产车Axia，导致两辆车相撞。

“被撞的Axia由于突如其来的撞击导致失控，随后撞上了一旁一辆正常等待红绿灯的丰田Vios。此次事故造成三辆车相撞。”

他表示，该事故未造成人员受伤，并且在事故发生后，肇事车辆也停在一旁检查祸况。

据本报记者了解，该地段为车祸多发区，此小路常有车辆在此转弯，而等待红绿灯的车辆较多时容易限制司机的视线，使他们难以察觉最左侧车道的车辆行驶情况。

The first edition of the Super Strikers futsal tournament which is also part of a Mata Pelajaran Umum (MPU) subject, Management of Sport Event is set to be held on April 21, at the TARUMT sports complex with sixteen participating teams.

The tournament is aimed at strengthening ties between the local community and university students, promote futsal activities for all ages, encourage a healthy lifestyle, foster talent development through futsal.

The tournament also boasts a lot of prestigious awards with the champion set to win RM 400, runners-up for RM 300 while the second runners-up will rake home RM 200.

Speaking to Kampar Daily, Calvin who is leading the organizing committee said, “we also hope to explore the dynamic interaction between experienced senior players with the youthful energy of the game besides showcasing both a competitive and casual way to enjoy football and making new friends along the way.”

Due to rises in raw material prices, the most popular sacrificial paper offerings during Qing Ming Festival have faced varying degrees of price increment, with the highest reaching nearly 50% in some cases. Meanwhile, the "buying enthusiasm" sparked by the Qingming Festival in the market also varies from store to store.

Ms.Wu, mother of Tian Ling Xiang Trading owner, told Kampar Daily that the store has been selling sacrificial offerings since the Lantern Festival this year.

She explained that while sacrificial activities during the Qingming Festival usually lasted for about ten days before and after the actual day in the past, but most people nowadays no longer have any taboos on the timing of annual sacrifices, many customers even take advantage of the holiday period to return to their hometowns to worship their ancestors.

"During this period, customers stop by to buy sacrificial offerings one after another, the business was particularly brisk on last week weekend, particularly on Friday, because everyone wants to avoid the weekend peak," she added.

She revealed that although the sales this year are not as good as before the movement control order (MCO), they still managed to recover to nearly 80% of the previous sales.

According to her, most of the sacrificial offerings in the store are imported from China, and many locally made offerings also use materials from China, thus rising in prices of raw materials definitely affected the selling prices, particularly for innovative styles offerings such as paper aeroplanes and houses, which can turn out to be doubled in prices,

“Although the economy is sluggish, and the prices of various paper offerings fluctuate, most of our customers, who are long-term regulars, still have the same purchasing power as in previous years,” she said.

She added that various innovative paper offerings that appeared in the market in recent years are also quite popular among their customers because of their uniqueness and freshness.

On the other hand, Ms. Liu, an employee of the Prosperous Neighbourhood Spice Store, said that the store only started selling Qingming Festival sacrificial offerings at the end of March this year, and the peak period for customers to come and buy was last week, during the Qingming Festival.

“However, part of it may be due to the economic downturn and price increment due to increases in prices of raw material, this year's sales still have a slight gap compared to last year, some customers only chose to buy half of what they bought last year.” she said.

She revealed the way the store stocks items nowadays, the store dare dare not stockpile a lot of goods at once like before, instead will adjust according to the market situation, and will only replenish it If it's not enough.

She also mentioned that most of the paper offerings in store are mainly traditional items such as clothes, shoes, and umbrellas, and mostly made locally, with the rise in raw material prices, the prices this year have also been adjusted.

"Our customers are mostly of a more traditional type, preferring to buy things that their deceased elders used before,” she said.

天令香贸易老板的母亲吴女士在受询时表示，今年该店自元宵节后便开始售卖祭品，以往清明节的祭祀通常都会在正日前后的十天，但如今大多民众对于每年祭祀的日子已无任何忌讳，不少顾客更是会趁着假期期间返回金宝祭祖。

“这期间陆陆续续都有顾客前来购买祭品，而上个星期周五和周末两日生意更是尤其火爆，尤其是周五，因为大家都想避开周末高峰。”
她透露，今年清明节的销量虽不比行动管制令前，但也已恢复了之前销量的近80八仙。此外，虽然经济不景气，各种纸扎品也因原料涨价的缘故价格起伏不一，但大多数顾客仍持有与往年一样的购买力。

“店里的祭品大多为中国进口货，很多本地制作的祭品原料也源自中国，所以价格肯定会受影响，尤其是较新颖的款式如纸扎飞机和房子，影响最大的调涨了一倍左右，而我们的顾客大多为多年熟客，基本上都保持与往年一样的购买量。”

她补充，近几年出现的各种新颖纸扎品，也因更有新鲜感而亦颇受顾客喜爱。

另一方面，旺街坊香料店员工刘女士表示，今年该店3月尾才开始售卖清明节祭品，而顾客前来购买的高峰期则是在上星期，也就是清明节祭祀期间，但今年销量对比去年来说仍有点差距。

“部分可能是因为经济不景气的缘故，有些顾客今年只选择购买了往年一半的量，所以我们店里不会进太多货，会根据市场情况去进行调整，卖得不够再进行补货，不敢像以前一样一次性囤很多货。”

她透露，店里所售卖的纸扎品多为本地制作，基本都是一些较传统的祭品如衣服、皮鞋、雨伞等等，而随着原材料价格上涨，今年祭品的价格也进行了调整。

“我们的顾客都属于较传统的类型，更趋向于购买一些已故长辈生前有在使用的东西，而今年由于来的货价格方面也有些调涨，只能贵来贵卖。”

Dengue Fever cases detected in 3 areas of Kampar prompt reminder for precautionary measures.

Majlis Daerah Kampar (MDK) has issued a stern warning through its official page urging residents to take necessary precautions against mosquitoes before returning to their hometowns.

According to the latest updates from the iDengue website, there have been a total of three reported cases of dengue fever in Kampar. Each case was reported from different locations: Jalan Ampang, Taman Bandar Baru (Jalan Intan), and Taman Bandar Barat, with one case reported in each area.

Majlis Daerah Kampar (MDK) highlighted in its Facebook post that with the ongoing festive season and school holidays, there has been increased community activity, raising the risk of dengue fever transmission.

Furthermore, MDK is taking the advice from the Health Department, stressing the importance for individuals to thoroughly clean the surroundings of their homes to prevent the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes, and to use aerosol insecticide indoors.

The post also included an infographic on preventive measures against dengue fever during the festive season. It emphasized the need for individuals to ensure there is no stagnant water in or around their homes. If water storage is necessary, containers must be tightly sealed, and insecticide should be used to eliminate mosquito larvae.

Lastly, the infographic states that if you experience symptoms of dengue fever, such as high fever, muscle/joint pain, eye pain, and dizziness, please seek medical attention immediately .

据IDengue网站的最新资讯，金宝地区共出现3宗骨痛热症病例，通报病例分别来自安邦路（Jalan Ampang）、金宝新街场（Taman Bandar Baru (Jalan Intan)、金宝西湖区（Taman Bandar Barat）。通报病例各一宗。

In a proactive step towards environmental sustainability, the Kampar District Council (MDK) hosted its monthly recycling campaign on March 30th, aimed at addressing the growing concern of recyclable waste, especially electronic waste.

This recycling program marks a significant effort to reduce the environmental impact of electronic waste within the community.

It was held at the car park near the Kampar Wet Market, aims to encourage residents of Kampar to responsibly dispose of their old or unused electronic gadgets such as smartphones, televisions, air conditioner compressor, and other electronic devices.

MDK Information Technology Deputy Officer Hafiza binti Makri, who is the person in charge of the program, emphasized the importance of properly managing e-waste to safeguard the environment and public health.

"The electronic appliances contain chemical substances. It will harm the environment and our health if we throw them improperly," said Hafiza.

This monthly recycling program offers citizens convenient drop-off locations throughout the Kampar district such as Kampar, Gopeng, Malim Nawar and Mambang Diawan.

Furthermore, MDK has partnered with accredited recycling companies to ensure that collected electronic devices are properly dismantled, recycled, and processed in compliance with environmental regulations. This partnership aims to maximize the recovery of valuable materials from e-waste while minimizing the release of hazardous substances into the environment.

"We will collect the electronic waste sent by the citizens and hand it over to the designated companies so it will be processed in a correct way," affirmed Hafiza.

MDK has been doing the recycling program for years and started collecting electronic waste in 2021, in conjunction with the nationwide-scale campaign by the Department of Environment (JAS).

MDK also mentioned that the objective of this program is to raise awareness among citizens of the correct way of disposal to ensure their safety.

项目负责人兼县议会信息技术副官哈菲扎受访时表示，科技的快速进步缩短了电子产品的寿命并提高了其消耗量，因此正确处置电子废品已成为减轻其对环境所造成的不利影响的当务之急。

“电子设备含有化学物质，若处理不当，将为环境及公众健康带来不可估量的危害，因此懂得妥善管理电子垃圾十分重要。”

她透露，县议会与经认可的回收公司保持合作关系，确保收集到的电子废品在符合环境法规的情况下，得到妥善的拆卸及回收处理，最大限度地从这些废品中汲取有价值的材料的同时，也能减少有害物质的释放。

她补充，这项每月一次的的回收运动在金宝、务边、双溪古月和万邦刁湾等地区为民众提供固定且便利的回收地点。

“民众可在每月指定日期，将家里的可回收废品带到指定的回收点，县议会的专员将在现场进行收集工作，而后移交至指定公司进行下一步处理。”

她指出，配合大马天然资源与环境部全国范围内所发起的回收运动，金宝县议会多年来一直在持续开展回收运动，并于 2021 年开始收集电子废品。

“我们希望民众能学会正确的处理方式，以便在处理可回收物品的同时，也能确保自身的生命安全。”

The still lakes in the heart of Kampar have been a haven of a clamorous avifauna of a wide array of bird species each with its own characteristics and beauty.

From herons to hornbills, egrets to bitterns, sea eagles to woodpeckers one would never fail to marvel at their charm.
According to local watchers, Kampar is home to an impressive count of at least a hundred species of water birds which has since risen in the past five years depending on the migrating patterns.
Mr. Wang Tao, 67, who is also a longtime avid bird watcher and fisherman said that the grey heron, egret species, asian koel and the oriental honey buzzard are among the highest breeding species in the Kampar locality.
However, that’s not all. During peak migratory seasons, at least a few hundreds of various other non-regular species would be seen flying across the skies in groups during early dawns and late dusks, he said.
Wang describes the grey heron as a figure of elegance in most of the local water points. It’s majestic six-feet wingspan, silver-grey feathers, slender long neck and graceful size makes it an expert in striking unwary fish in the waters.
“Its dagger-like beak, honed by years of evolution, is a formidable tool, perfectly designed for spearing fish and frogs with deadly accuracy,” he tells Kampar Daily.
But the heron is not just a masterful hunter; it is also a creature of beauty and mystery. As dusk descends and the darkness grows, watchers around both East and West lakes get to see the beholding sight of the heron's silhouette against the fading light he added.
Another common bird is the Asian koel. Although it has a beautiful appearance what makes it truly remarkable is his voice that transcends the ordinary.
Its call, a rich, resonant "koo-ooo," is a harbinger of the monsoon, an ancient melody that has echoed through the bushes and trees of Kampar for years, he explained.
He adds that according to ancient legends, the Koel's call is more than just a song. It is a reminder of the beauty and resilience and mysteries of the natural world.
Every day as the sun sets, Koel's call fills the air, a haunting melody that speaks of love, life’s eternal dance and the timeless wonders of the natural world.
On the other hand, he says the egret is one of the regulars in the watery domains of Kampar. The egret normally come in different sub-species; the cattle, great and little egrets, are often seen gliding effortlessly over the still lakes.
According to Wang the egrets embody the epitome of grace in motion, “one will certainly realise this from their behaviour when hunting for fish and insects in the shallow waters. Their patience and timed strikes with pinpoint accuracy is unparalleled,” said Wang.
Beside their beauty and grace, the egret also embodies an element of cultural symbolism. In many Asian cultures, the egret is a symbol of purity, patience, and wisdom while in others such as Mesopotamia (ancient Egypt) egrets were associated with the goddess Isis, which symbolises fertility and motherhood.

67岁的王涛（Wang Tao）先生是一位长期热衷于观鸟的和垂钓的人，根据他的观察，金宝地区至少有一百种水鸟，而这一数量在过去五年中有所增加，增加的幅度取决于这些鸟类的迁徙模式。
他指出，灰鹭、白鹭、亚洲杜鹃和东方蜂鹰是金宝地区繁殖最多的鸟类之一，然而，在迁徙高峰期，至少还能看到数百种其他非常规物种在清晨和傍晚的天空中成群飞行。
王先生接受本报采访时指出，灰鹭是金宝大部分水域的优雅代表。它优美的六英尺翼展、银灰色羽毛、修长的长颈和优雅的体型使其成为水中捕鱼的专家。
“灰鹭的喙像匕首般，而经过多年的进化，成为了它们捕食鱼或青蛙的强大工具。但灰鹭不仅是一位技艺高超的猎手；它也是一种美丽而神秘的生物。当黄昏降临，黑暗蔓延时，东湖和西湖周围的观鸟者们会看到灰鹭的轮廓在消逝的光线中。”
另一种常见的鸟名为亚洲杜鹃，虽然它外表美丽，但真正引人注目的是它那超越寻常的声音。
他表示，杜鹃的叫声“咕咽，咕咽”，是季风的先驱，是一个古老的旋律，多年来一直在金宝的灌木丛以及树木中回荡。
“据古代传说，杜鹃的叫声不仅是一首歌，更是对自然界美丽、坚韧和神秘的提醒。每当太阳落山时，杜鹃的叫声充斥着空气，一种令人心醉的旋律，讲述着爱情、生命的永恒舞蹈和自然界永恒的奇迹。”
此外，王先生描述白鹭是优雅运动的典范，也是金宝水域的常客之一，它们通常有耐心和精准的定时攻击在浅水中的鱼以及昆虫。白鹭通常有不同的亚种；牛背白鹭、大白鹭和小白鹭，它们经常在静谧的湖泊上优雅地滑翔。
除了它们的美丽和优雅，白鹭还具有文化象征的元素。在许多亚洲文化中，白鹭是纯洁、耐心和智慧的象征，而在其他文化中，如美索不达米亚（古埃及），白鹭与女神伊西斯相关联，象征着生育和母性。

Kampar’s 7-Eleven returns on March 26 after renovation, with an upgraded concept ‘7CAFé’.

Kampar’s 7-Eleven was first opened in 2005, and it was finally upgraded to 7CAFé this year, though the first 7CAFé in Malaysia was launched in 2022.

The main difference between 7-Eleven and 7CAFé is that 7-Eleven is traditionally known as a convenience store, offering a wide range of products including snacks, drinks, groceries, and basic household items, while 7CAFé focuses on providing a café-like experience along with the convenience store offerings.

7CAFé offers grab-and-go food options including onigiri, various flavours of pau, snacks like chicken fingers, hash browns, curry puffs, popcorn chickens, breads and pastries like muffins, bagels, and custard danish. Also, it provides freshly brewed coffee, affogato and soft-serve ice cream.

Another interesting part of 7CAFé is the way food is ordered. The counter displays different order cards representing the foods and drinks, and customers are required to pick the cards before paying and enjoying their meal.

The competition among convenience stores in Kampar intensifies due to the increasing number of competitors, including Family Mart, CU Mart, myNEWS, and KK Mart. The upgrade of 7-Eleven this time can be said to be a measure taken to deal with competitors.

经过一场彻头彻尾的大改造后，金宝新街场7-11连锁便利商店（7-Eleven）于日前以全新概念的7-11咖啡厅（7CAFé）身份回归，结合咖啡店与便利商店的营运模式，新增了自助点餐及热食区。

7-11连锁便利商店（7-Eleven）金宝分店是于2005年正式投入营业，尽管全马首家7-11咖啡厅（7CAFé）是在2022年就已经存在，但直到今年其金宝分店才获得升级。

7-11连锁便利商店与其咖啡厅的主要差别在于所提供的商品与服务，7-11过往的定位更像是传统便利商店，仅售卖零食、饮料杂货与基本家具用品在内的各种商品，而7-11咖啡厅在售卖上述商品的同时，还更着重于提供顾客如咖啡厅一般的体验。

全新的7CAFé如今提供更多的食物选项，其中有饭团、各种口味的包子、软雪糕、小吃如鸡柳、土豆饼、咖喱角、爆米花鸡、以及包括松饼、贝果和丹麦面包在内的各种烘焙食品，同时，饮料方面还提供即磨咖啡、意式浸泡咖啡等。

值得一提的是7CAFé推出了全新点餐方式，柜台上展示了不同食物以及饮料的点餐卡供顾客选择，顾客在挑选了属意的食物卡片后，便可直接前往柜台前付款，并享受美食。

金宝便利商店的竞争随着竞争对手数量的增加变得愈发激烈，其中包括Family Mart、CU Mart、myNEWS和KK Mart。鉴于此，此次7-11的升级可说是为了应对和追赶上竞争对手而做出的改变。

U-Health Matters held a Health Fair on March 24 at UTAR Hospital, involving both UTAR students and the public.

There are several activities being conducted, including free medical consultations, a nutrition exhibition, Zumba, a game station, a food street, and performances.

There were two Western doctors and six traditional Chinese medicine practitioners providing free consultations to the public.

The medical consultations included blood pressure tests, sugar level tests, and also pulse diagnosis.

The team of U-Health Matters said, “We want to raise awareness of health related issues among the locals and students, especially the importance of medical checkups.”

He also added that around 200 people took the chance to have medical consultations.

“The free medical consultation is a good effort, especially for those who can’t afford a medical checkup outside.

However, not many people know about this event, it would be better if the event was well publicised,” said a local.

Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, the Deputy President of MCA also visited the Health Fair on that day.

金宝校区拉曼大学公关系的学生，于3月24日（星期日），在拉曼大学医院举办了一场名为“优化健康 (U-Health Matters）”的健康展览。

展览现场举行了各式各样的项目，包括免费的身体检查、营养展览、尊巴（Zumba）、小游戏、美食展及才艺演出。

其中，最受欢迎的项目莫过于免费身体检查，除血糖及血压测验外，两名西医与六名中医师更是在场为民众提供免费的医疗咨询。

“优化健康”团队受访时表示，该医疗咨询共获200人参与，希望通过这场活动能提高当地民众及学生对于健康问题的认知，尤其是医疗检查的重要性。

此外，一名参与活动的民众表示，免费身体检查是一项有意义的活动，对于一些没有能力支付昂贵检查费用的民众来说，是个非常难得的机会。

“项目都很不错，比较遗憾的是，感觉活动并没有得到有效的宣传和曝光，导致部分民众可能因此错过了这场活动。”

与此同时，马华署理总会长拿督马汉顺医生亦于活动当日莅临现场，以示支持。
