A Young Rohingya Man from Buthidaung Dies from Injuries Sustained Under Torture in AA Custody.

Muhammad Arshad, a young Rohingya man from Buthidaung Township who had been detained by the terrorist Arakan Army (AA), has died on July 26, in a refugee camp in neighboring Bangladesh.

His death resulted from injuries and illnesses he sustained due to torture during his time in terrorist AA custody, according to reports.

Muhammad Arshad was arbitrarily arrested by the terrorist AA on May 29, 2024. Locals from Buthidaung who are close to his family told ANP that he was severely beaten and coerced into confessing to crimes he did not commit before being imprisoned.

He was reportedly detained and tortured for around seven months—from the end of May 2024 to the end of December 2024—while held in an terrorist AA detention facility.

“A lot of Rohingya youth, not just Muhammad Arshad, have been arbitrarily detained and tortured in terrorist AA detention centers. It’s a targeted campaign,” said another a young Rohingya resident of Buthidaung Township.

Although Muhammad Arshad was eventually released alive from the terrorist AA facility, he fled to Bangladesh to seek medical treatment for the physical and mental trauma he endured. Despite receiving some treatment, he passed away today.

Speaking to WSnews, U Saw Lin, Director of Rohingya Labs—a group collecting evidence of war crimes in Buthidaung—said: “Numerous atrocities were committed by the terrorist AA during the Buthidaung incidents. Muhammad Arshad survived over seven months after being released from detention.

Another a young Rohingya man, 23-year-old Rofiqadel, son of Rofiq from Ward 5 of Buthidaung, was taken by the terrorist AA in late October 2024. The terrorist AA members told his parents not to worry, saying he was only being summoned to the township office for questioning and would be sent back soon. However, on November 11, his co**se was returned by the terrorist same AA members who had taken him.

“Rofiqadel was brutally killed. His body showed signs of deep bruises and severe trauma, indicating he had been tortured until just before his death. Witnesses who saw his body confirmed this,” U Saw Lin added.

He emphasized that the terrorist AA must be held accountable for these grave crimes, and that justice and truth must ultimately prevail.

BREAKING NEWS, Boat carrying 20 Myanmar nationals stranded on St. Martin’s Island due to storm

A boat carrying about 20 Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar has stranded on St. Martin’s Island (also known as Ohnkyun in Arakan) in Bangladesh due to a storm, local Bangladeshi news outlets reported.

The 20 Rohingya people on board the boat, 16 men, 3 women and 1 child, arrived on Friday, July 25.

Sheikh Ehsan, the administrative officer of Teknak (also known as Kayu Chaung in Arakan), confirmed the arrival and said they would be sent back to Myanmar if the weather conditions improve.

A resident of St. Martin’s Island said their boat had been stranded on the northern side of the island due to strong waves on Friday morning and that they were currently being taken to a camp by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

The news does not say where in Myanmar they are from, nor does it say where they are headed.

Rohingya Youth D-ies from Injuries After Detention by Arakan Army in Buthidaung

A 22-year-old Rohingya man, Maung Arshad, has d.ied in a refugee camp in Bangladesh after succumbing to severe injuries sustained during his detention by the ter-rorist Arakan Army (AA) in Buthidaung Township, Arakan State, Myanmar.

Arshad was arrested without charge on May 29, 2024, by the Buddhist ter-rorist group AA. He was brutally tortured and forced to confess to false accusations. Held for seven months until December 2024, he suffered extreme physical and psychological abuse. After his release, he fled to Bangladesh seeking medical care, but his condition worsened, leading to his de-ath.

A local youth stated, “Maung Arshad is one of many Rohingya youths arrested and tortured without reason.” Human rights activist Saya Saw Lim, director of Rohingya Labs, cited this as another example of ter-rorist AA’s war crimes, recalling the ki-lling of another youth, Rohingya Kaday, in November 2024, whose body showed signs of brutal torture.

Saya Saw Lim called for justice and international accountability for AA’s crimes. “We will not rest until justice is served,” he said. Arshad’s death is a stark reminder of the suffering endured by the Rohingya under ter-rorist AA control.

Fortify Rights has released a detailed report revealing that the terrorist Arakan Army (AA) has committed serious war crimes against Rohingya civilians in Arakan State. These include abductions, torture, extrajudicial killings, and other grave violations of international law. The report urges the International Criminal Court (ICC) to launch an immediate investigation into these crimes.

In an attempt to cover up its atrocities, the terrorist Arakan Army is spreading false information and propaganda. The group has reportedly forced Rohingya civilians to pose for staged photos and videos, creating a false narrative to mislead the international community and avoid accountability.

Meanwhile, ordinary civilians who have committed no crimes are being arbitrarily arrested and extorted for money. This pattern of abuse has created a climate of fear, making survival extremely difficult for residents of the region.

The Rohingya people in Arakan are living under constant threat. Their lives remain unsafe and insecure due to ongoing genocidal attacks and systematic persecution. Immediate international action is needed to protect this vulnerable population and ensure justice is served.
