Parents Avenue understand the challenges and issues every moms and dads encounter because we are parents too. We make it our priority to address concerns, sharing useful information and to celebrate the joy of parenthood locally. In 2015 the magazine was laun

ched to critical acclaim, our first issue was even inducted into the Sabah State Archives; finally mothers of Sabah had somewhere to turn to for advice. Parents Avenue Magazine, featured heart felt local stories, promoted Mompreneurs, reviewed vital products & services and helped connect parents to a growing network of local support. Along the way, Parents Avenue has organised events to bring families together and even run public safety campaigns promoting safe usage of car seats. After 4 years of fantastic physical issues, Parents Avenue is ready to evolve. In line with our commitment to the environment, we have decided to go digital, saving many valuable natural resources. The move also allows us to better serve the parents of Sabah as it lets us provide instantly updated information in the palms of their hands. Instead of waiting months for the latest issue, articles, video reviews and interactive content will be available whenever you visit our website. We hope you like the changes and we promise to keep working hard to provide you with the most up to date local information we can. We believe parenting is a shared journey and we are always looking for new tips or ideas to make other parent’s lives better!

📣📣📣Calling Volunteers! Parents Avenue is recruiting volunteers as District Ambassador each representing one of the 25 districts in Sabah. The role of a DA is incredibly special, simple and only in your free time. You will be in the know of the latest happening in your local district such as concern that needs addressing, special events and sharing inspiring/good news stories. The community will reach out to you as the first point of contact for Parents Avenue and you will have the opportunity to communicate and building positive relationships with the community and organisations involved in the process. No experience is required as you will be guided throughout.

If you are looking at ways to contribute back to your community in your free time, this could be your calling. You will have the opportunity to learn and grow as Parents Avenue will provide further learning and training opportunities to help you develop personally and professionally.

Did you know that mothers cannot automatically confer citizenship to their child if born overseas? This means the children need to apply for student visa to remain in Malaysia even though the mother is a citizen.

Local Sabahan mother Sheena M. finds herself in a quandry every November – to apply for a student visa for her son. The reason? Her son is a non-Malaysian citizen despite Sheena being a Malaysian citizen.
