Life comes in waves, and there will always be moments of doubt. It’s time to head to the cinema and experience .

A funeral spirals into an absurd battle for a co**se. >This isn‘t just a story; it’s a confrontation with reality.

Through interwoven narrative threads, what unfolds is far more than a small family‘s drama—it reveals a fragment of a vast national system and its history.

「The only Malaysian movie this year that I really wanted to watch.」

「The story seems absurd, but it reflects our real memories. Thank you, Director, for capturing our history so truthfully.」

「From beginning to end, the director does not give answers, but searches for them.」

「The best part of The Waves Will Carry Us is how it uses dark humor to tell a serious story.」

「When life is shaped by rules, history, and systems, people’s absurd actions reveal the most honest truths.」

「I think this is the best Chinese-language film so far about the past and present of Malaysian Chinese people.」

No matter who you are, you can find your own place in “The Waves Will Carry Us.”

”Craftsmanship that weaves together a fascinating fabric of beauty and reality.“

From real-life events to interwoven timelines, director Lau Kek-Huat precisely explores the subject of ”roots“ in The Waves Will Carry Us. This is more than a film; it is a deeply personal narrative and a profound reflection on how the past continues to shape present experiences.

April 16, step into the reality.
