Prayer Event in Loving Memory of Baba Budh Singh Ji

The Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), members of the Sikh community, and well-wishers will gather in solemn remembrance to honor the extraordinary life and legacy of Baba Budh Singh Ji — a respected freedom supporter, educationist, trade unionist, and former President of both the Malayan Indian Congress and Gurdwara Sahib Sentul.

Known affectionately as the “Gandhi of Malaya,” Baba Budh Singh Ji devoted his life to justice, unity, education, and community service. From his early years in Malaya during the 1920s, he tirelessly championed the rights of Indian workers and played an important role in supporting the Indian Independence movement in Malaya during the Second World War. His contributions to the Indian Independence League (IIL), the Indian National Army (INA), and the welfare of soldiers and workers reflected his deep commitment to humanity and national freedom.

Baba Budh Singh Ji also made a lasting impact on the Sikh community in Sentul. As President of Gurdwara Sahib Sentul from 1938 to 1945, he strengthened religious and educational activities and initiated efforts to establish a school for the promotion of English and Punjabi education. His vision for community upliftment continues to inspire generations today.

In the political sphere, Baba Budh Singh Ji served as the 2nd President of the Malayan Indian Congress (MIC) from 1947 to 1950. During a critical period in Malayan history, he stood firmly for fairness, citizenship rights, and unity among all communities. Despite political challenges and pressures during the Emergency period, he remained dedicated to the welfare of ordinary people and the laboring class.

After retiring from active politics in 1951, Baba Budh Singh Ji returned to India, where he continued his service through educational and social work until his passing in November 1958.

This prayer event serves not only as a remembrance of his remarkable contributions, but also as a celebration of the values he lived by — service, unity, devotion, justice, and education.

Sacred Dukh Bhanjani Tree Takes Root in Ipoh, Bringing Centuries of Faith to MalaysiaIn a deeply spiritual and historic moment for the Sikh community in Malaysia, a sacred sapling descended from the revered Dukh Bhanjani Beri of Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar, has been ceremonially planted at Gurdwara Sahib Greentown.

The Dukh Bhanjani Beri, a centuries-old jujube tree located within the Golden Temple complex, holds immense significance in Sikh tradition. Known as the “Eradicator of Suffering,” it is associated with the miraculous healing of a l***r through the blessings of the sacred Sarovar. It is also believed that Guru Nanak Dev Ji once rested beneath this tree. For generations, devotees have visited the site seeking spiritual relief, often receiving its fallen fruit as blessed prashad.

This extraordinary journey to Malaysia began on 1 March 2025, when Sardar Naran Singh received three sacred ber fruits from the holy tree during a visit to Harmandir Sahib. Upon returning home, he distributed the fruits—one to his helper, Kulvinder Kaur, and two to a nursery.

In what many are calling a miracle of faith, only the fruit given to Kulvinder Kaur germinated, growing into a healthy sapling. The other two did not survive. Recognising the spiritual significance of this event, Sardar Naran Singh and his family, together with Kulvinder Kaur, carefully nurtured the plant as it developed into a young tree.

Fulfilling a heartfelt promise, Sardar Naran Singh pledged to plant the sacred sapling at Gurdwara Sahib Greentown in Ipoh. Working closely with the Gurdwara’s president, Sardar Sukdev Singh, a suitable location within the premises was selected.

On 4 April 2026, the planting ceremony was conducted following an Ardass (formal Sikh prayer), attended by members of the local sangat. The ceremony marked not only the planting of a tree, but the arrival of a living spiritual symbol connecting Malaysia to one of Sikhism’s holiest sites.

Community members described the occasion as deeply moving, highlighting the tree as a beacon of hope, healing, and unity. As one elder reflected, “Where there is Sharda (faith), there is divine blessing.” The very journey of this sapling—from sacred soil in Amritsar to flourishing life in Ipoh—stands as a living example of this truth.

As it grows, the sapling is expected to become a place of reflection and prayer for future generations. The presence of this sacred tree in Ipoh stands as a powerful reminder that faith transcends distance, and that even a single seed—carried with devotion—can blossom into a lasting legacy of spiritual grace.

Vaisakhi: A Celebration of Faith, Courage and Spiritual Awakening

Kuala Lumpur – April 2026

The Sikh community across Malaysia and around the world came together to celebrate Vaisakhi, one of the most sacred and historically significant occasions in Sikhism. Marked with prayers, processions, and produce spiritual film Kale Lekh Na Lake by Baaz and Sri saheb production, and acts of service, Vaisakhi is far more than a cultural festival — it is a powerful reminder of faith, unity, and inner transformation.

The day commemorates the historic moment in 1699 when Guru Gobind Singh established the Khalsa, a collective of initiated Sikhs committed to upholding truth, justice, and equality. This defining event not only shaped Sikh identity but also reinforced the values of courage and selflessness that continue to inspire generations today.

Gurdwaras across the country witnessed large gatherings of devotees who participated in Ardas, listened to Kirtan, and shared Langar, reflecting the Sikh principles of humility and service. The ceremonial raising and renewal of the Nishan Sahib further symbolized a renewed commitment to the teachings of the Guru.

Beyond its historical roots, Vaisakhi carries a profound spiritual message. It reminds individuals that the greatest struggle is not external, but within — a battle against ego, anger, greed, attachment, and pride. The festival calls upon Sikhs to rise above these inner challenges and live a life guided by discipline, compassion, and devotion.

In addition to its religious significance, Vaisakhi also marks the harvest season in Punjab, celebrating gratitude for nature’s blessings and the fruits of honest labor. The vibrant spirit of the festival was evident through traditional music, community gatherings, and acts of generosity.

Community leaders emphasized that Vaisakhi remains a timeless message for all humanity — to stand for righteousness, serve others selflessly, and walk the path of truth.

As celebrations concluded, the essence of Vaisakhi echoed clearly: a day not only to remember history, but to renew one’s spirit and commitment to living as a true servant of humanity.

“Kale Likh Na Lekh” Official Launch Held with Ardas at Gurdwara Sahib Sentul

Kuala Lumpur, 11 April 2026 — The Sikh religious film “Kale Likh Na Lekh” was officially launched in a meaningful and spiritual ceremony at Gurdwara Sahib Sentul. The event began with an Ardas, followed by a Hukamnama (Vaak) taken from Guru Granth Sahib Ji, seeking blessings for the journey ahead.

The film is inspired by the teachings of Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Sorath (Ang 627), which highlight the importance of Naam (remembrance of God). The message is simple yet powerful — through devotion, one can find peace, happiness, and clarity in life, and overcome everyday struggles.

The launch was attended by many artists and members of the Sikh community in Malaysia, all coming together to support a project that reflects Sikh values and teachings. The atmosphere was calm, respectful, and filled with a sense of unity.

What made the event especially memorable was the presence of 7-month-old Jaiveer Singh Rhandawa, who was warmly recognized as the true VIP of the day. His presence symbolized innocence, purity, and the future of the Sikh community, bringing a special warmth to the occasion.

The film is directed by Baldev Singh Uppal, and produced by SRI SAHEB Production together with Baaz Network. “Kale Likh Na Lekh” focuses on the inner struggles every person faces — emotions like anger, ego, attachment, greed, and desire — and how spiritual awareness can help overcome them.

This film is not just meant for entertainment, but to share an important message and encourage people to reflect on their lives and reconnect with their faith.

The event ended with langgar, where everyone sat together and shared a meal, reflecting the Sikh values of equality and community.
