My front diffuser came off and broke again during Subaru Track Day in Sepang Circuit. This is the second time it came off and my third diffuser in the last 7 years. So this round I've decided to repair it with fiberglass and epoxy.

The fiberglass is an effective way for reconstruction and the epoxy is really good for shaping (it's like plastecine) and hardened when it's dried.

It's a simple DIY and cost me a little under RM50 for all the materials. The new front lip from is around RM350. Am I being frugal? Maybe .... but these thing breaks easily so if it's repairable why throw them away?

Why would anyone pay over RM1400 for a 12v battery? Can add horsepower meh?

The answer is no, it won't add horsepower but it immediately shave off 10kg of weight differences from both lead-acid to LFP battery.

Battalion Battery is lightweight, weighing only 4kgs and provides 3 times more cold cranking power - 900CCA but most importantly one of the main reason is I don't use my car very often, it is parked more than it is on the road - my battery weakened over times and I have to replaced them every 18-24 months. You do the maths lor.

Lithium battery has a slow discharge cycle meaning it would stay charged for much longer. LFP battery are said to last 8-10 years. And if the battery decides to drain and you got stuck somewhere - Battalion battery is one of the few brands that comes with a built-in jumper.

What ah?

So there's a button you can press and it will jump start and you can start rolling again.

So is it worth it? First it's light, then more powerful then longer lifespan - oklor

Westlake Sport RSII RE-VISION - A New Perspective on Street and Track Performance

I've been using Westlake tyres since 2018 across all my cars. Recently, I tested the new Sport RSII 235/40R18 on my Toyota 86 at Sepang Circuit during Automoment Track Day in April and Subaru Track Day in May.

Before hitting the track, I adjusted tyre pressure to 24psi (165kpa), anticipating the high afternoon heat would increase pressure during the session. On my first hot lap in April(night track), I clocked 2:48.###. In May, with upgraded brakes, I improved to 2:45.###. However, I noticed the rear tyres twitching a few times. Back in the pits, my gauge showed higher pressure than expected, likely due to an inaccurate station gauge. I reset it to 180kpa and went back out—no more twitching, and I hit a personal best of 2:41.###.

Now later in the day with cooler weather and lesser traffic, I adjusted pressures again—26psi front, 24psi rear—and went for another session. First lap was 2:41.### despite some traffic. On what I knew might be my final run, I pushed hard. Timer showed green sectors; at one point, I was -1.82 seconds faster. I navigated T9–T14 as cleanly as possible, braked hard into T15, and crossed the line at 2:40.000—my new PB!

The new Westlake Sport RSII: major improvement! The reinforced sidewalls suit track use well, and the compound holds up better under heat. I believe there’s still 2–3 seconds left in these tyres. While not the absolute best in performance, they're among the most affordable options for what they deliver.

The lightweight scallop rotor has to go but why? This rotor is designed for weight reduction and for Motorsport application that does not require intense braking such as gymkhana or drifting.

So my Toyota 86 is getting a new rotor and brake fluid today at just in time for The Subaru Track Day in Sepang over the weekend.

Initially I made few enquiries from local vendors but none could find a matching rotor for Wilwood Brakes System. Leaving with no options locally, I emailed Wilwood and they helped me to find the correct part number. I then bought the matching rotor from and it arrived earlier as expected. My other options was from an Australian seller but little confidence to Australia Post to deliver on time 😅

Together with the rotor swap, I am also bleeding the old brake fluid with the Endless RF-650 which will be sufficient for track-use.

Do you think it'll work? We'll find out this Sunday!

for a short drive to Krabi last week via Wang Kelian/Wang Prachan border! It was raining in the afternoon and heavy traffic arriving at Krabi due to road diversion and construction. Thankfully, the weather then for the food on the following morning. Took a short walk to Ao Nang Beach for a simple breakfast by the beach while catching stories with drive buddies.

Thanks for the company and treat!

The last track day for my Toyota 86 was late 2022 and after a 2 years hiatus, what changed? I was invited by to join a premium track session organised by on 29 April 2025. It was also an opportunity for me refresh and setup the car for this track session.

The biggest change is an engine swap with the new GR86 FA24, newly serviced Cusco coilovers, handful of undercarriage upgrades such as Hardrace front lower arm, Hardrace rear toe arm, upgraded AVO's offset caster, Whiteline rear differential bushes and a brand new Supercircuit rear anti-roll bar.

The car is also running on a set of lightweight Wilwood brake kit, PWR oil cooler , Razer GP1 18" flow forming rim and a brand new set of 235/40R18 Westlake Sport RSII.

The car ran about 15-16 laps and everything feels good, stable and perform exactly how I wanted it. The engine is lubricated with Lukoil 5W30, the oil temperature is stable on the average 105-110c , maintaining good oil pressure thoughout.

Unfortunately the brakes weren't adequate, it will need a new front rotor replacement and brake fluid. The brake felt spongy after just a single hot lap, no personal best was intended but on a easy round the track, it time an average of 2.45-2.46 average. The FA24 with a significantly improved mid-end range is effortless in Sepang Circuit.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my sponsors;

I was in Kuantan for a work trip and took a short time off to visit also a 86 member from the east coast. He operate a workshop at Jenson's Racing Performance Shop specialising in our Toyota 86 as well as other popular Japanese car brands.

We talk about the 86BRZ community in the east coast and exchanges ideas how we can collaborate and support each other to improve engagements through Motorsport activities such as precision driver training and track days in Kuantan / Terengganu side. The 86/BRZ Malaysia is also planning to bring back the 86 Festival last held 2022 in Sepang International Circuit later this year.

Not to get sidetracked, I took an opportunity to introduce Jenson's the latest Lithium Iron-Phosphate Battery from . Lithium Battery has low discharge rate and has a lifespan capacity up to 10 years. It is also lightweight starting from 4kg with at least 3x the power. Using Jenson's battery checker, it was reading above 1200 CCA.

If you are from the East Coast, you might get it and install your Lithium Battery with Jensen's in the near future.

P/s : Spotted .zy and live on Toyota GR VIOS race in Sepang! Both of you are awesome!

"The simplest task takes the longest time". My carpet near the accelerator paddle came off loose for many many years. The edge of the carpet would come off loose from the trimming and I will have to tuck it back in.

Decided it's finally time, I bought a 4 in 1 gun tacker/stapler and staple the carpet back in place - added a few more to further tightly secure it for the many more years to come.

Tool used
Hotax 4 in 1 Gun Tacker - RM21.90

Had this same Bride Zeta III for many years and finally gave it a thorough wash and much needed repair. It wasn't a difficult task but procastinated for a long time. Found some old sponge from old sofa someone left in the dumpster, cut them to size, CA glue them all-together.

Removing the cover is a delicate task, had to be careful with the worn/torn part. After successfully removing it, I cut out small patch from an old sturdy suede-faux-leather material I found in my cases. CA glue the edges are evenly and hand-sewn the edges securing the patch tightly.

The patched area is going to be covered by a protector, the quality of the craftsmanship can be compromised 😅 and hid from normal view.

More love and tender care maintenance coming soon!

[Recap] Two days ago, I had to remove the tinting because the car had to do another round of PUSPAKOM inspection. And this time, I've opted for the Mobile Service and proud to say, their service is rather quick, efficient and convinient. The inspection was done under 10 minutes and received the laporan not long after that.

How to book PUSPAKOM Mobile Inspection?
Visit PUSPAKOM official website and create an account. You can choose the options for Mobile Inspection , fill in your details and select the next available date (green box) - needless to say, it's not all perfect and availability is a little tricky. Key is to be patient and you get through it just fine. However the services offered for mobile inspection is limited.

How much?
The fee is RM100 for mobile inspection and RM30 for the inspection fee all together.

What do they check during inspection?
- to match your engine number
- to match your chassis number
- tinting (windscreen and two front doors)
- No welding marking on chassis

Syabas PUSPAKOM
