Terra Current came from thinking about how exhausting life can feel sometimes.

The constant moving.
The pressure to keep going.
The feeling that if you slow down for even a second, life sends you 14 emails, 3 problems, and a surprise emotional breakdown.

The burnt orange became that energy for me. Loud, alive, restless. The metallic turquoise feels like the pause we keep searching for, and the green grounds everything again like finally touching grass after being mentally unavailable for three business days.
Ive survived enough random life plot twists, I think peace is less about escaping chaos and more about learning how to stand calmly inside it.

That’s what this piece became for me.
Not perfection.
Not complete stillness.
Just balance trying its best.

What does this piece say to you?

Have you ever felt completely certain one moment… and lost the next?

That’s the feeling behind Violet Tension.

I created this piece thinking about how most of us are carrying opposite emotions at the same time.

Confidence mixed with fear. Gratitude mixed with exhaustion. Hope mixed with uncertainty.

The deep violet holds that emotional weight.

The yellow interrupts it like those sudden moments of clarity life gives us when we least expect it. Then the silver-grey softens everything again, like learning how to breathe through the noise.

Now … I’m older , and have seen a few moons.
I realise nobody actually has life fully figured out. Some are just better at replying “all good” while internally .. buffering. 😅 Most of us are just learning how to hold different emotions without letting them break us.

That’s why this piece matters to me.

Because maybe growth isn’t becoming fearless.

Maybe it’s learning how to keep moving even when things feel unresolved.

What does this piece say to you?

The funny thing about stillness is people think it comes from having an easy life.

I don’t think that’s true at all.

I think real stillness comes after chaos, disappointment, growth, heartbreak, pressure, survival, and learning how to carry all of it without letting it consume you.

While creating Gilded Silence, I kept returning to that thought. The textured surface started to feel less like imperfection and more like evidence. Evidence that something has been lived through.

That’s why I left the marks.
That’s why I didn’t try to make it flawless.

Because the older I get, the more I realise the strongest people are rarely the untouched ones. They are the ones who have been through things and still choose softness, calm, and presence.

This piece became my way of translating that feeling into abstraction.

Not perfection.
Not damage.
Just history carried with grace.

And maybe that’s why this piece was the first in the series to find its home.

GRWM — taking this piece out into the world.

This work began with a question for KLAF (organised by PAM): what happens when batik is approached as a system, not just a surface?

I turned Kuala Lumpur into a pattern from this artwork. Breaking the skyline into shapes, repeating them, building it layer by layer.

Still rooted in tradition just seen differently.

Created within a framework to explore, innovate, and keep batik alive as something evolving, not fixed.

It didn’t win 🏆 but it was shortlisted. And with little experience in this field, being recognised among some of the best is something I don’t take lightly.

Grateful. Always.

You can see it in person 1–15 May Intermark Mall KL Level 3 organised by

Terbina dalam tradisi.
