I’ve been fortunate enough to DP for our local prodigy musician, Uriah, on his latest song “别忘了我 Remember Me.” Throughout the journey, I was reminded that sometimes it’s not technical skill that takes priority in an MV — it’s the story. The message carried on screen, the performance, and the love poured into every frame are what truly matter.
Of course, cinematography is our craft, but with narrative-driven films, going too fancy can easily distract from the story — and that was something we consciously avoided. Choosing to work with still shots, handheld movements, and just a single gimbal shot allowed the visuals to feel more emotional rather than merely stunning.
I still remember vividly the scene where Uriah rushed in to hug his grandpa — an absolute tear-jerker. And the moment when his grandpa held him close, offering encouragement. Those were scenes we imagined long before the shoot — what we call the magic treatment. Pure art, pure intention, and genuine sincerity.
This is the magic of filmmaking, and I’m grateful we got to create it together with Uriah and the team. Big love to theatrical director queen Ysabel, and to the rest of the young, fresh-blood filmmakers who made this possible 🤍
