First time rental gone wrong!

Hisham was moving from Sarawak, and never having rented a place before, he was unaware of all the rental scams tactics.

He found a nice unit within his budget, via Facebook Marketplace - a scammer’s hunting ground.

The “agent” was a kindly elderly woman who even went through the hassle to prepare rental agreement. Hisham arrived to the location, ready to move in when the agent stopped replying.

Fierce. Rhythmic. Almost forgotten. Kuda Pacu is a warrior’s dance from the Bajau-Samah people of Sabah, and for many, it’s a powerful symbol of home.

Once a folk game played at weddings, the dance was formalised in the 1970s. Today, with support from Yayasan Hasanah, communities are working to keep it alive through workshops, cultural talks, and performances that bring young Sabahan dancers into the spotlight.

“For me,” says Dayang Norinah, “it’s about preserving our identity. Especially for the children of Sabah who’ve grown up far from home. If we don’t pass this down — who will?”
