Remembering -
Angela Tomasa Bofill (May 2, 1954 – June 13, 2024)
American singer-songwriter.
I was introduced to her albums Angie and Angel of the night by good friend Raja Nizam in 1979.I fell in love with her vocals and became one of my favourite singers of all time.Coincidentally Sheila Majid caught my attention singing one of her songs You should know by now.(I thought it was rare for a local talent to choose a song by Angela Bofill}.Angela Bofill signed to GRP Records and releasing her debut album, “Angie,” in 1978.Clive Davis, the Arista Records founder, lured her to his label in 1981.She released her last studio album, “Love in Slow Motion,” in 1996. Her music career ended when she had strokes in 2006 and 2007 that left her partly paralyzed and speech-impaired.
She died on Thursday 13th June 2024 in Vallejo, Calif. She was 70.Her death, at the home of her daughter, Shauna Bofill Vincent, was announced in a social media post by her manager, Rich Engel.
