A total of 37 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) readings as of 11 am this morning, with Seremban in Negeri Sembilan recording the highest reading of 187.
Based on data from the Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS), Bukit Rambai in Melaka recorded a reading of 185, followed by Pasir Gudang in Johor (184), Nilai (183), Melaka City (183) and Segamat (183).
Johan Setia in Selangor recorded a reading of 182, while Tangkak, Johor recorded a reading of 181 and Tasek Ipoh, Perak recorded a reading of 180.
Johor remains among the most affected states with eight areas recording unhealthy readings, including Pasir Gudang, Segamat, Tangkak, Larkin (176), Kluang (175), Pengerang (174), Batu Pahat (169) and Kota Tinggi (168).
In Selangor, apart from Johan Setia, other areas that recorded unhealthy readings were Shah Alam (177), Petaling Jaya (168), Banting (168), Klang (166) and Kuala Selangor (153).
Perak also recorded five areas with unhealthy air quality, namely Tasek Ipoh (180), Pegoh Ipoh (174), Tanjung Malim (174), Seri Manjung (159) and Taiping (125).
In the Federal Territory, Batu Muda and Cheras each recorded a reading of 170, while Putrajaya also recorded the same reading.
Meanwhile, Rompin (168), Indera Mahkota Kuantan (161) and Temerloh (154) in Pahang are at unhealthy levels, while Sungai Petani (156) and Alor Setar (153) in Kedah also recorded readings exceeding the 150 level.
In Penang, Minden recorded a reading of 154, followed by Seberang Jaya (152) and Seberang Perai (119), while Kemaman, Terengganu recorded a reading of 153.
However, all areas in Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan, Kelantan and Perlis are still at a moderate level.
According to the APIMS classification, API readings between 101 and 200 are categorized as unhealthy, while readings between 51 and 100 are at a moderate level.
The public, especially children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory problems, are advised to reduce outdoor activities and take appropriate protective measures due to the ongoing haze conditions.
