🧍‍♂️ Tiny humans have arrived in the city, how many can you find? 🔍

Celebrated Spanish artist Isaac Cordal's miniature people can be found throughout the world: Berlin, London, Vienna, Taipei, Montreal, New York, Paris, Hanoi, etc. And now they're HERE in George Town! ⭐

These remarkable figurines are waiting for you in the most unlikely places, blending neatly into the background 😯 Part of Cordal’s ongoing project Cement Eclipses, they remind us of the imperfect construction of our society and the absurdity of our existence.

Isaac Cordal’s groundbreaking project is supported by the Embassy of Spain in Malaysia.

Two communities one from Ban Liao and one from Taman Sri Janggus will be doing their parade performance at George Town tomorrow 10am

🙌 Witness a parade showcasing the voices, stories and living histories of Taman Sri Janggus, Bukit Mertajam and Ban Liau, Bukit Tambun!

These awe-inspiring creations are the culmination of a 4-month Giant Puppet Community Project involving Malaysian artists, United States puppet theatre troupe Boxcutter Collective and members of both communities across all ages 🌟

🌟 Happening NOW at Think City @ Bangunan UAB: A roundtable discussion to address the past, present and unseen future of Penang's art ecosystem!

In a session moderated by Penang Institute's Dr Beh May Ting, GTF 2024 invited Penang EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai, Nur Sharmimi Bakri from Penang State Art Gallery and Dr Khoo Suet Leng from Universiti Sains Malaysia, for a constructive dialogue to chart a course towards meaningful change. 🌟

The next session coming up will be moderated by Malaysian contemporary artist Hoo Fan Chon, with guest speakers Chen Yoke Pin (Arts-ED), Aiza Redza (dancer and choreographer) and Kenny Ng (Penang Art District)

🤝 Residents of Taman Sri Janggus, Bukit Mertajam and Ban Liau, Bukit Tambun, Malaysian artists and United States puppet theatre troupe Boxcutter Collective came together over the past four months to construct these awe-inspiring creations. 🧵✂️🎨

Everyone is welcome, so come along for a joyful display of togetherness! This parade is guaranteed to fill your Sunday morning with festive cheer!

In the 4-month Giant Puppet Community Project, Malaysian artists collaborate with United States puppet theatre troupe Boxcutter Collective, venturing into two local communities outside of George Town: Taman Sri Janggus in Machang Bubuk and Ban Liau in Bukit Tambun.

Engaging with the community through workshops and other activities ✂️🥁 this transformative outreach programme seeks to foster a sustainable ripple effect in nationwide self-expression. It culminates in the creation of gigantic puppets that will be paraded around the communities and through George Town!

Good news: Online ticket sales for GuoGuang’s shows at GTF are back on now!

▍緊急通知 Urgent Notification ‼️

國光劇團原訂7月20日（週六）下午2時30分於喬治市藝術節之首場演出將改至7月19日（週五）晚間8時30分，已購買週六票券之觀眾可移轉至週五場次，或尋求以7月21日（週日）所餘部分席位為替代（更改場次或退費之方式請依票務系統CloudJoi之通知辦理），週五演出前場外亦將設有票務櫃檯協助民眾購票。

GuoGuang Opera Company’s performance at George Town Festival Saturday, July 20, at 2:30 pm has been rescheduled to Friday night, at 8:30pm. Ticket holders of Saturday’s show can come to Friday’s instead or get a replacement for Sunday’s performance (please look for notification from CloudJoi). A physical box office will be set up outside the theatre before the show tomorrow to take walk-ins as well.
