After so many problems with our camper It seems like it's take forever to get of the official start line of our trip!.. We are very excited to share that we made it to Slope Point - the most southerly part of New Zealand's south island.

It's official EXPEDITION HOME has officially started and we can't wait to share the long drive all the way back to the UK. WOO HOOOO !!!🥳

Had a wonderful catch with our local radio station back home - BBC Shropshire. and told them all about Expedition home our long drive from New Zealand to the UK. Always lovely to catch up

New Zealand is known for it's pies so as we passed through Invercargill we had to stop at their famous pie shop and what a name for a shop LOL !! The pie was delicious - steak and cheese is my new favourite pie - it goes so well

We leave Milford sound and drive south towards the coast. I didn't expect the drive to be like this

After leaving Milford Sound we headed south to the bottom coast of New Zealands South Island. Stopping at Gemstone Beach. The surf is known to wash up semi-precious gems such as garnet, jasper, quartz and nephrite. We didn't find any special stones but the view was very special.

Heading further down the coast we found a great freedom camp on Monkey Island Beach and was treated to a magnificent sunset.

We didn't think we would get to see Milford Sound after the earthquake, then waking up to hear the road had been closed and our boat trip was cancelled. But we did make it and get on a later boat. It felt like going back to the days when dinosaurs roamed the earth - Epic landscapes, cascading waterfalls (made better by the rain), more rainbows than we'd ever seen and of course fabulous company. If you go to New Zealand make sure you visit - the drive here alone was worth the trip !!
