It was a tricky one for us initially as the firemen were not comfortable speaking in English and weren’t sure about being on camera so mama had to act as the on-set translator, rusty as she was with the local lingo. In the end, Fireman Mr Akmal and his team went above and beyond in giving us a very interesting behind-the-scenes tour of their station including, of course, a ride in the fire truck itself 🚒

We have recently launched our new series of learning videos covering English three-letter words. In these videos we focus on a combined set of learning mechanisms: Recognition of the word through repetition; Comprehension of the word in real world context (with added animation where relevant); Pronunciation using both Phonics blending and Onset and Rime methods in conjunction with each other; Spelling and Writing. This is a one stop shop for learning new words in English.

Our plan is to publish a comprehensive set of three letter words in this series and then move on to expand the range and type of words and add both "sight" words and simple sentence construction using the words already learned. As usual, these videos come with practice workbooks for writing.

As it's the season for clocks falling back 🍁⏰, we thought it would be timely (ha) to talk about Time! Not in a philosophical, metaphysical way of course, at least not yet. But have you ever wished your toddler / preschooler was able to read the clock in the mornings so they'd think twice about waking you up at crazy o'clock on a Saturday morning? If so, then this video is for you (or your little one)!

In this video children will first learn the concept of how we keep time as related to the Earth we live on, the 24 hour cycle and then move on to how a clock works to tell time, different ways to say the time and some practice examples. Throwback to the summer of last year on one of our on-location shoots, at the (in)famous Tower of London!
A special Halloween edition and part of our wider "out 'n about" / cultural excursions theme, we aim to make more of these historical documentary-like videos that aim to give children a window to different places, cultures, events and real world experience of things they have learnt about in the classroom.
Ollie was just under 4 years of age at the time, yet was able to stay suitably engaged throughout the visit, helped that there were interactive games towards the end where he got to "fire" cannons and crossbows himself 🧨🏹

Ollie’s little friend makes a guest appearance in our fire station filming. We will sadly have to say goodbye to Pei Pei and her lovely family as they are returning to Thailand this month 🥲. We will miss you guys!

Whilst working on our latest nursery rhyme video, I stumbled on this clip from over a year ago, a couple of months before Ollie’s 4th birthday. He was learning Spanish at nursery and was always keen to show off his counting in Spanish. Now that we’ve been in Asia for almost a year, he will probably have forgotten it all. And it brought to mind how easy it is to lose a language skill when it is not practised. Hopefully he will have the opportunity to learn it again in the future, if he so chooses to of course ☺️ No tiger-momming on this one.

Ollie’s first beach holiday! 🏖 Now most would imagine that being now based in the tropics, this would be an everyday occurrence. But where we live in KL is really built-up and not close to the beach at all. And we have been so busy trying to get things sorted and settled we have only managed to do a proper family holiday this August when school was out. Ollie was able to play in the sand for hours and enjoyed sharing a room with mama & dada, staying up with us chattering away till midnight 😱😆
