Slowdive’s iconic shoegaze sound, reimagined through the distinctive visual language of Lim Keh Soon
A founding member of the Findars collective, Tokyo-based Malaysian artist Lim Keh Soon has spent nearly two decades building a practice that merges illustration, painting and underground comics into richly layered narratives filled with surreal characters, social satire and fragments of memory.
Since graduating from the Malaysian Institute of Art, he has exhibited across Malaysia and Japan, from early solo exhibitions such as *Ju**ie Monkey* and *Sembelit* to more recent exhibitions including *Wakarimasen*, *Cross Border* and *Memories and Reality*, reflecting his ongoing exploration of identity, displacement and cultural encounters.
Since making his Japanese debut at the Showa-kai Exhibition in 2021, Lim has exhibited widely in Japan. In 2022, he was selected as one of 83 artists from 1,142 applicants for the prestigious FACE exhibition at the SOMPO Museum of Art, leading to his representation by Reijinsha Gallery. His works have since been presented in solo and group exhibitions, art fairs, and at institutions including Gallery UG, the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, the National Art Gallery of Malaysia, and Petronas Gallery.
Experience more of Keh Soon’s latest works at his ongoing exhibition at **Tsutaya Books, Pavilion Bukit Jalil**, on view until **3 August**.
This exhibition presents a selection of works created during Lim’s years living in Japan. Drawing inspiration from everyday experiences and cultural differences, the artworks reflect his observations of daily life through a humorous, accessible, and deeply personal approach.
