Rumah Batu — A Legacy Remembered
“Every brick holds a story. Every silence echoes a name.”
Rumah Batu is more than just a house — it is a symbol of heritage, resilience, and the untold legacy of the Perabangan family, one of Sarawak’s early aristocratic lineages. This documentary unearths the stories behind the very first brick house in Sarawak, and the pivotal role the Perabangan played in shaping the foundations of the state — through governance, endurance under occupation, and a deep love for the land.
Directed by Abang Amirrul Abang Khirudin and Hanis Hamid, and produced by Black Visuals, this film is a personal tribute to family, history, and identity. Filmed just five days after Amirrul’s father passed — it became a final gift to a father’s dying wish: to remember where we come from.
Original music composed by Harith Jamil
