📍🟡 The MACC arrested former army chief General Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain, his two wives, and another couple as a part of its probe into alleged corruption in military procurement tenders on 7 Jan.

📌 This follows the earlier remand of 17 company directors for their suspected involvement in a military procurement cartel.

📌 On 23 December 2025, the MACC launched an investigation into military procurements, after activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin lodged a report on the matter. Badrul, also known as Chegubard, had alleged that large cash inflows were detected in the bank accounts of a senior officer and his family members, purportedly from companies that had obtained military projects.

📌 Separately, the Defence Ministry has ordered an investigation into allegations of misconduct among the Malaysian Armed Forces. This comes after purported pictures and videos of 'yeye parties' held in military facilities surfaced on social media, along with allegations that military officers had engaged s*x workers and brought them into the camps.

📌 We speak with Ridzwan Rahmat, Principal Defence Analyst at Jane’s, for a deeper look at Malaysia’s military procurement landscape and the reforms needed to fix it.
