As a creative endeavour from Mun Yeong, Shermene, and Chya Chyi, Bang Bang Zine centres on the art of storytelling with illustration in the medium of independent zine and print publication. Founded in 2017, our zine initiative formed together with a bunch of friends is inspired by the local-tea-drinking culture. Untried ideas have their voices heard through the making of zines. It is fascinating w

hen we see works come to fruition from a tiny story to finished publishing, but not limited to this medium. To us, stories always matter. The intriguing name of “Bang Bang Zine” is extended from the term that we love how different ideas bang with different sparks. In BBZ, play is our serious work in creating new possibilities. We hope to remind people to value the need for play no matter in good times or adversity. Under the brand Bang Bang Zine, we're running a risograph printing studio called INKINK DER (IID) located in GMBB, Kuala Lumpur. With risograph, we want to encourage people to create the aesthetic of their life using this medium from levels of art, business and education. The desire of bringing you more beautiful zine varieties has never faded from the beginning. We see ourselves growing to be a multifaceted brand: not just a zine publisher, but also a zine store, a risograph press, an illustration company, a curated gallery, and a playground for you to embrace stories and express with creativity. Our 3-colour risograph artwork “Longkang Family” is part of the Art For Strays exhibition! Each of the 12 unique record cover designs comes with surprise gifts✨

Hei Dou, Soya, and Happy were rescued from the drain. Hei Dou, the black cat, is the playful little sister; Soya, the crazy orange dog, and Happy, the big bro black dog with anxiety, share a special bond with her. We never planned to adopt a cat, but Hei Dou made herself part of the family, and so the adorable Longkang Family was formed.

Tomorrow is the last day of Art For Strays! Two days of art, stories, and workshops dedicated to our furry friends 🐱🐶💛

This month, we’ve refreshed our Riso printing experience workshop into Riso Remix! Alongside creating your postcard artwork with 1–2 Riso colours, you’ll also get to pick any 4 of our pre-designed cards to remix with.

🌸 We’ll be at Plaza 33 for the Japan Wonders event on 19th & 20th Sept, swing by for our popular Bang Bang Portraits and print collection! Meanwhile, our store will still be open as usual from 1pm – 7pm.

A Critique on the Hyper Curation of Nature in Singapore

The current planting and landscaping methodology of Singapore, lies in a highly curated image of what the state wants to be perceived as. This current top-down approach to gardening and greening of the state stifles the individual and personal expressions. It centres our greening efforts into a central utopic vision, dedicated to establishing a clear optic for Singapore.

This photo zine compiles film and digital images captured whilst travelling, using Singapore as a key precedent for the apotheosis of Nature Curation. Contrasting moments of control and respite, we see the dualities of a policed ‘nature’ and how life flourishes within our City in Nature.

Hello peep! We will be running a Riso Remix workshop on August 2, 12–3PM at the first-ever KL Zine etc. 🎉✨

In this hands-on Risograph printing session, you will explore how the mood of a single artwork shifts when printed using only black ink on pre-designed Riso background colours, layouts, and halftone textures.

Each participant will:
✨ Choose two Riso-printed designs
🖍️ Create a two-layer artwork to be printed in black
🖼️ Take home TWO POSTCARD SETS (5 pieces each set)

All materials are included, and it’s beginner-friendly🤩Only 10 slots available!

We’re running two digital risograph workshops for illustration / design this month:

2-Colour (3 hours) – Great for beginners to explore layering and how two colours interact.

🗓️ 20 July (Sun)
3-Colour (3.5 hours) – More colours, more layers, more fun. Ideal for those who want to experiment further, even if it’s your first time!

Just bring your laptop or tablet with your artwork, we’ll guide you step by step. You’ll go home with 5 copies of your own A3 riso prints to keep or share!
