Dato’ Hilal Azman ialah seorang yang saya pernah dengar namanya, tapi tak pernah tengok di skrin. Tapi sejak awal lagi, beliau ada semua ciri yang kami cari untuk watak utama Memori, Dr. Hassan.

Bila beliau datang uji bakat, beliau betul-betul bersedia dan dah faham watak Dr. Hassan.

Cuma masa pertemuan pertama, saya ambil masa sikit nak faham pendekatan beliau. Tapi dari cara beliau datang dengan keyakinan, saya tahu beliau dah pun ‘memiliki’ watak ni.

Disebabkan watak Dr. Hassan ni diinspirasikan daripada arwah ayah saya, saya banyak berkongsi dengan Dato’ Hilal - tentang perwatakan ayah, perjalanan hidupnya, dan juga penyakit yang dihadapinya.

Saya tak pernah tunjuk rakaman peribadi arwah ayah yang menghidap Alzheimer kepada sesiapa, tapi untuk Dato’ Hilal, saya buat pengecualian. Sebab saya nak dia faham betul-betul menjiwai watak ni. Dan bila beliau membawakan watak tu, rasa macam saya sedang melihat ayah saya sendiri.

Sampai ada masa saya kena pandang tempat lain, sebab kalau tak, memang rasa kehilangan tu datang balik, dan hati jadi terlalu sebak.

Dato’ Hilal betul-betul menghidupkan Dr. Hassan seperti mana yang kami tulis dalam skrip. Persembahan beliau sangat halus, penuh dengan emosi dan perincian yang menyentuh hati.

Banyak perbualan kami sebelum penggambaran rasa macam sesi terapi untuk saya – bantu saya hadam kehilangan paling besar dalam hidup.

Beliau sangat menghormati kisah ayah saya dan hasilnya ialah satu lakonan yang sangat bermakna dalam Memori.

Kami dengan penuh rasa teruja ingin mengumumkan bahawa filem kami, Memori, telah memenangi Filem Terbaik di Festival Filem Antarabangsa SEA di Manila malam ini!

Sebagai filem Malaysia pertama yang menerima penghormatan berprestij ini, kami amat berbangga dan bersyukur.
Terima kasih yang tidak terhingga kepada seluruh pasukan produksi, barisan pelakon, dan semua penyokong kami yang menjadikan detik bersejarah ini satu kenyataan.

Hisyam, sebagai seorang insan, menyimpan emosi yang mendalam dalam dirinya bagai empangan yang menakung air, menunggu masa untuk dilepaskan.

Dia memiliki kebolehan luar biasa untuk melimpahkan emosi itu di layar apabila naskhah menuntutnya.

Beliau adalah antara bakat paling rajin, beretika dan berdisiplin yang pernah saya bekerjasama.

Ini merupakan kali kedua saya diberi peluang untuk bekerjasama dengan Hisyam.

Pertama dalam That Cover Girl dan kini dalam Memori, dan setiap kali, saya tetap terpegun dengan tenaganya, semangatnya dan cintanya terhadap seni lakonan.

Hisyam adalah khazanah negara dalam dunia lakonan dan wajar dilindungi dengan naskhah-naskhah yang hebat.

Ia satu kegembiraan untuk mencipta wataknya di atas kertas dan melihatnya menjelma di layar persis seperti yang saya bayangkan-Abid Hussain (Nota Pengarah)

Memori akan mula ditayangkan di pawagam seluruh Malaysia pada 31 Julai.

Hisyam, as a human, holds a wealth of emotions within him, much like a dam holds water. He possesses an incredible ability to flood the screen with those emotions when the script calls for it. He is the most hardworking, ethical, and disciplined talent I have ever worked with. This is the second time I’ve had the good fortune to collaborate with Hisyam, first on That Cover Girl and now on Memori and each time, I’m amazed by his energy, enthusiasm, and love for performance. Hisyam is a national treasure in acting and should be protected with great scripts at all costs. It was a joy to create his character on paper and see it come to life on screen as I imagined- Abid Hussain (Director)
