Please Lah “Manners Maketh Malaysia”

11/06/2019

We have come to our eighth video of the series - this time it’s about our manners with e-hailing drivers. We chose to show it from their perspective this time, mostly because as much as we don’t like rude drivers, sometimes we also gotta look at ourselves and see if we’ve been on our best behaviour!

Though relatively new, we’re pretty sure you guys are familiar with these services, whether as riders or even drivers. Share with us your experiences, good and bad. We’d like to know! Oh and we’d like to hear more from the drivers too, what are the annoying behaviours you’ve encountered and how do you usually cope with those?

Hey everyone, we hope you’ve been enjoying your Raya so far!

Meanwhile enjoy this video - a little reminder of what not to do when we finally come back to work after this Raya season. What we portrayed are definitely not exhaustive, these are just a portion out of a whole list of annoying stuff that do not only affect your productivity, but your teammates’ as well and reflect your professionalism as a whole!

Eric Chester, the author of Reviving Work Ethic: A Leader's Guide to Ending Entitlement and Restoring Pride in the Emerging Workforce, describes work ethic as, "positive, enthusiastic people who show up for work on time, who are dressed and prepared properly, who go out of their way to add value and do more than what's required of them, who are honest, who will play by the rules, and who will give cheerful, friendly service regardless of the situation."

Do you agree?

How was the first day of Eid? Have you had enough lemang and rendang to last you another year?

We know it’s a holiday for most of us in Malaysia but hey - a little definition of what work is wouldn’t hurt!

I think we’d be correct to say that most of our followers are made up of working adults and students, which is to say that you guys must be familiar with good working ethics already 😉

Here’s a comic by Randy Glasbergen, enjoy!

Hey guys! Remember when we asked you guys to share your stories with us a week ago? Here’s our first story from Shanjeev Reddy - it was quite dramatic, but definitely not something that has never or will not happen!

We are pretty sure that many of us has experienced this, but does not mean that it should be normalised! I mean, if it grinds your gears when it happens to you, it will definitely grind others’ gears too 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyway, thanks Shanjeev Reddy for agreeing to share your story with Please Lah! Keep the stories coming and we’ll continue sharing them 😁

As Russell Baker, the American journalist who was also the Pulitzer prize winner once said, “It's good for the soul to hear yourself as others hear you, and next time maybe, just maybe, you will not talk so much, so loudly, so brilliantly, so charmingly, so utterly shamelessly foolishly.”

We think it’s equally important to know that more often than not, shouting your points out loud won’t get your message across. Also, there is a time and place for everything, so yeah, telling everybody during a family event about your bowel problems might not be a good idea after all 😉
