Rohingya Crisis Must Stay on Global Radar: Bangladesh Home Minister

Dhaka, 6 September 2026: Bangladesh Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has called for sustained international attention and stronger diplomatic action to secure a safe, dignified and sustainable return of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar.

Speaking at a roundtable in Dhaka, he urged the United Nations, major powers and international organizations not to allow the Rohingya crisis to disappear from the global agenda amid competing conflicts.

After nearly nine years of displacement, the Rohingya crisis remains fundamentally a political and justice crisis, not only a humanitarian one. The Minister stressed that humanitarian assistance must be matched by credible international efforts to create the conditions for safe and dignified return in Rakhine State.

The Rohingya must not become a forgotten crisis. Their future requires political action, accountability and a pathway home.

For the second consecutive year, Bangladeshi students have stood together at Raju Bhashkorjo, near TSC, University of Dhaka, to remember the Rohingya genocide.

When we had nowhere to go in 2017, Bangladesh opened its doors and gave us shelter, food, and hope.

On behalf of the Rohingya community, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the people of Bangladesh. Your humanity and solidarity will never be forgotten.

To world leaders: do not let the Rohingya genocide become a forgotten chapter of history.

We remember the lives lost, the families destroyed, and the homeland we were forced to leave. Nine years later, our wounds remain, but so does our determination.

🖤 We remember.
⚖️ We demand justice and accountability.
🏠 We demand a safe, voluntary and dignified return home.

On this day in 2024, we remember and mourn the tragic loss of many Rohingya, including children, whose bodies were recovered from the Naf River following the violence.

The Naf River Massacre became one of the darkest chapters of the second wave of the Rohingya genocide in 2024. This image is more than a photograph. It is a testament to lives lost, families shattered, and the urgent need for truth, justice, accountability, and the protection of civilians.

We remember. We mourn. We will never forget.

Rohingya Refugees Hold Peaceful Demonstration During U.S. Envoy's Visit

Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh | 31 July 2026: Rohingya refugees held a peaceful demonstration today during the visit of U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor to the refugee camps in Cox's Bazar. Participants called for justice, accountability, and the safe, voluntary, dignified, and sustainable return of Rohingya to Myanmar with full citizenship and equal rights. They also urged the international community to continue humanitarian support and take stronger action to resolve the prolonged Rohingya crisis.
