🎨 TIMELESS Part One: The Process of Making Batik;

1. Design (Motif Creation)
The process begins with drawing the batik motif on the cloth. Every motif carries deep meaning, philosophy, or prayers.
2. Waxing (Canting or Stamping)
Hot wax is applied using a canting tool for hand-drawn batik, or a copper stamp (cap) for patterned batik. The wax protects the areas of the fabric that should remain uncolored.
3. Coloring (Dyeing)
The cloth is dipped into natural or synthetic dyes. The unwaxed parts absorb the color, while the wax-covered parts stay protected.
4. Drying
After dyeing, the cloth is dried under the sun. Sometimes this process is repeated with different colors to create beautiful layers and gradients.
5. Wax Removal (Pelorodan)
The wax is removed by boiling the cloth in hot water. This reveals the final batik patterns clearly.
6. Finishing
The batik cloth is washed, dried, and ironed. Finally, it is ready to be worn or used as an artwork.

Kebaya Contest 2025 Strengthens Cultural Diplomacy Between Indonesia and Malaysia

In the vibrant celebration of the Kebaya Contest 2025, CYM Founders & Co had the distinct honour of meeting Ibu Dewi Danang, Vice Chairwoman of Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP), Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur.

The event not only showcased the timeless elegance of the kebaya as a symbol of Nusantara heritage, but also underscored the importance of cultural diplomacy in uniting communities across borders. The presence of Ibu Dewi Danang highlighted the Embassy’s ongoing support for initiatives that empower women, preserve traditional values, and foster stronger ties between Indonesia and Malaysia.

“Through events like the Kebaya Contest, we aim to celebrate identity, elegance, and empowerment while building meaningful bridges between cultures,” said the CYM Founders.

The evening was marked by fashion, tradition, and a spirit of togetherness, creating a platform where heritage meets modern aspirations — a true reflection of Indonesia–Malaysia friendship. 🌿👑✨
