As disasters grow more frequent and misinformation spreads faster than ever, UNESCO and the ABU have unveiled a groundbreaking UNESCO Model Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan (DPRP) — the first blueprint designed to keep journalists safe, keep newsrooms functioning, and strengthen their armour against false narratives.

Developed with experts from 30 disaster-prone countries, this plan redefines the role of media as life-saving partners in crisis communication. As Dr Tawfik Jelassi noted: “When crises strike, verified information can save lives.”

Stronger newsrooms mean stronger, more resilient communities.
