KBS and Media Prima to Explore AI and Radio at Media & Culture Days 2025

At the upcoming Media and Culture Days in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on 26 October 2025, Mr Kim Hongbum, Executive Producer at KBS Korea, will present Station X โ€” Koreaโ€™s first radio programme hosted entirely by a generative AI DJ.

Another featured speaker, Mr Nazri Noran, CEO of Media Prima Audio, will share Malaysiaโ€™s innovative journey in exploring AI integration within the radio industry.

The 16th edition of the Awards continues to celebrate powerful stories about people, nature, life, and history. Filmmakers may submit completed works or projects still in the idea stage, with participation free of charge.

Awards will be presented across four categories โ€“ International Category, National Professional Category, National Student Films Category, and Project Development Category. โ€“ with a total of 12 prizes to be granted.

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) is now accepting entries for the second edition of the ABU Together for Planet, People, Peace (T4P) Media Awards 2025 โ€” an initiative that celebrates powerful and inspiring media that drives positive change.

These awards honor outstanding storytelling that addresses todayโ€™s challenges and showcases solutions or positive examples in the realms of:

The 2025 ABU Media & Culture Days event will take place on 26โ€“27 October 2025 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, hosted by MTV Channel (Private) Limited, and the Capital Maharaja Group. It is being organised jointly between the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), Radio Romรขnia, MTV Channel (Private) Limited and Capital Maharaja Group.

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œRisks, Challenges and Opportunities of AI for Media,โ€ will explore how artificial intelligence is transforming the media industry. Discussions will address opportunities as well as critical issues of ethics, responsibility, creativity, and regulation.

The ABU Administrative Council has extended the term of ABU Secretary-General Ahmed Nadeem for another three years. The announcement was made during the 62nd ABU General Assembly in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Ahmed Nadeem, who first joined the ABU in 2008 and became Secretary General in 2023, brings over 25 years of experience in broadcasting and telecommunications.

Sri Lanka will host the 63rd ABU General Assembly and Associated Meetings in 2026, to be held in Colombo and hosted by MTV Channel (Pvt) Limited, part of the Capital Maharaja Group. The announcement was made at the close of the 62nd GA in Ulaanbaatar, where CMGโ€™s Suresh Srinivasan praised MNB for its โ€œpure classโ€ organisation. The 62nd Assembly received very positive feedback, with discussions focusing on safeguarding culture, the role of technology, and the future of broadcasting.
