To be honest, working with a team like this was intimidating at first. We remember asking ourselves: can we really take on this job? Production is a whole different world from social media content. While we’re used to doing shoots with just three to four people, this required a full team - each person with their own role, their own weight to carry.
This incredible group poured their heart and sweat into producing this short film to share a story rooted in our very own Sarawak culture. You might spend 15 minutes watching it - but behind those 15 minutes were 50+ hours of filming over three days, not counting the long hours of editing, refining, and polishing.
One of the greatest lessons we took away from this project came from Mr. Mathew Ngau Jau, Malaysia’s Living National Heritage and master of the sape. Despite his age, he continues to preserve and pass on the traditions of the Kenyah people - playing the sape, teaching its music, carving the instrument by hand, and telling stories through his art. Watching him perform was humbling. It reminded us that cultural preservation doesn’t fade with time - it grows deeper with purpose.
So if you’ve stopped by and seen this post, we invite you to pause for a few seconds. Watch, listen, and experience what this team has put together - not just a short film, but a tribute to the people and culture of Sarawak 💛❤️🖤
