AFFIN GROUP APPOINTS HANIF GHULAM MOHAMMED AS CEO OF AFFIN HWANG
INVESTMENT BANK BERHAD
KUALA LUMPUR: AFFIN Group (“AFFIN” or “the Group”) today announced the appointment of
Encik Hanif Ghulam Mohammed (Hanif) as the new Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) of Affin Hwang
Investment Bank Berhad (“Affin Hwang Investment Bank”), effective 9 September 2025.
Hanif brings with him over two decades of experience in the banking sector, with a strong focus on Treasury.
Prior to this appointment, he served as Executive Director of Group Treasury at Affin Bank
Berhad (“AFFIN BANK”) since December 2021. His career includes senior roles such as Regional Head of Islamic Treasury and Director of Fixed Income, reflecting his deep expertise in debt capital markets and Islamic finance.
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Hanif plays a pivotal role in shaping Malaysia’s financial
landscape.
He currently serves on Bank Negara Malaysia’s Financial Markets Committee and chairs
the Islamic Financial Markets Subcommittee, underscoring his thought leadership and commitment to the development of Malaysia’s Islamic financial markets. His appointment is a strategic move aligned with Affin Hwang Investment Bank’s ambition to drive innovation, strengthen its market position, and deliver long-term value to clients, shareholders, and stakeholders in line with the Group’s AX28 Strategic Plan.

Hanif holds a Professional Certificate in Islamic Finance from INCEIF and a Bachelor of Science in
Economics & Management from the University of London, London School of Economics. His academic background, combined with his industry experience, places him in an excellent position to lead Affin Hwang Investment Bank into its next phase of growth, reinforcing the Group’s commitment to expanding non-interest income streams and exploring new opportunities both domestically and regionally.
