The session also focused on identifying challenges faced by local boat operators, understanding community needs and exploring ways to further strengthen community participation and livelihood opportunities through ecotourism.

The feedback gathered will support future planning and initiatives to enhance the visitor experience while ensuring that local communities continue to play an important role in Bakoโ€™s ecotourism development.

OPERASI PENANGKAPAN IGUANA DI TAMAN BULATAN, MIRI

12 Ogos 2026 | Taman Bulatan, Miri

Jangan menangkap atau mengendalikan Iguana sendiri.
Jangan memberikan makanan kepada Iguana.
Laporkan penemuan Iguana kepada pihak berkuasa berkaitan.

Kerjasama orang awam amat penting dalam membantu usaha pengurusan spesies invasif di kawasan bandar.

SFC Media Familiarization Trip 2026: From Caves to Coastal Sanctuaries

On 11 August 2026, Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) hosted a Media Familiarization Trip, taking members of the media on an immersive, multi-day journey through some of Sarawakโ€™s unique protected areas โ€” Fairy Cave Nature Reserve, Kuching Wetland National Park, Talang-Satang National Park, and Tanjung Datu National Park.

Fairy Cave Nature Reserve
The journey began at Fairy Cave Nature Reserve, with participants receiving a safety briefing before embarking on a guided cave tour from the entrance towards the Summit Trail Platform.

The visit offered an opportunity to experience the unique subterranean environment while gaining insights into ecotourism management, structural safety, and the conservation of fragile cave ecosystems.

Kuching Wetland National Park
In the afternoon, the journey continued from Lemidin Jetty with a boat cruise along Sg. Jebong, where participants explored the wetland habitat and its wildlife, including the possibility of spotting Proboscis monkeys and Irrawaddy dolphins.

The cruise then continued through Loba Kilong, offering a closer look at the parkโ€™s mangrove ecosystem, before heading towards Monkey Island, where participants experienced an evening cruise with opportunities for crocodile and firefly sightings.

Talang-Satang National Park
Following the wetland adventure, the media delegation headed to the pristine islands of Talang-Satang National Park for an overnight stay. As Sarawakโ€™s first marine protected area, the island sanctuary offered participants an exclusive and deeply educational experience regarding marine life protection. During their one-night stay, the media learned about vital marine turtle conservation efforts, observing hatchery management and the meticulous safeguarding of turtle nesting sites along the beaches.

Tanjung Datu National Park
The next day, before the media trip officially concluded, the group made a final, breathtaking stop at Tanjung Datu National Park. Widely celebrated as the place "where Borneo begins," this secluded park offered a stunning contrast of crystal-clear waters and lush, untouched coastal rainforests. The brief stopover allowed participants to appreciate the rich biodiversity and pristine beaches that thrive where the jungle meets the South China Sea.

A Commitment to Conservation
From the depths of Fairy Cave and the vibrant mangroves of Kuching Wetland, to the vital marine hatcheries of Talang-Satang and the remote coastal frontier of Tanjung Datu, the trip showcased the incredibly diverse landscapes that SFC works to conserve. It highlighted the importance of balancing conservation, responsible ecotourism, and public appreciation of nature.

Through meaningful engagement with the media, SFC hopes to bring these conservation stories closer to the public and inspire greater appreciation for Sarawakโ€™s protected areas.

From caves to wetlands, and islands to coastal shores, every journey reveals another reason to protect Sarawak.
