It is with great sorrow that we learnt that our dear friend, Ibu De Gayantina Thamrin has passed away in Bandung last week. Our hearts go out to her family who are now mourning the loss of a mother, a wife, a sister.
De leaves behind a large group of friends in Kuching, Sarawak, where she resided for several years. We all remember her sweet smile; nobody who knew her can forget her. De was a pillar of strength to her compatriots in Sarawak, always ready when volunteers were needed.
She was instrumental in coordinating the Indonesian contingents of artisans for our annual Rainforest World Craft Bazaar and even organised a fantastic angklung band performance to add to the music festival. Artistic in her own right, she created several jewellery pieces for sale at BIBCo 2019 besides doing other endeavours in Bandung. An ever-willing helper with any charitable or cultural undertakings, a quiet voice of reason and understanding.
She will be greatly missed by us all at Crafthub. May the Almighty bestow upon her the highest honours in the afterlife and grant her family strength and fortitude in these difficult times.
