Hi friends 💛
A couple of years ago, my mom had to retire because of company policy (there’s an age limit), but honestly… she’s still so healthy, sharp, and full of creativity. And I truly believe when we stop doing things we love, our minds slow down too.

So she’s starting something new… A little home business where she bakes her signature Sarawak belacan & lumut cakes, sometimes fruit cakes, and also makes crochet items. She also sell seasonal mango & papaya from our own backyard 🌿

It’s her way of staying active, creative, and earning a bit of income doing what she loves.

If you’d like to support her, I’d really appreciate it if you follow her page on instagram:
👉

She’s also opening orders for CNY cakes now 🧧✨
🗓️ Orders open till 3 Feb or when fully booked
📍 Self pick-up only (Miri, Sarawak)
📲 Contact via WhatsApp

My daughter loves her belacan cake. She calls it “chocolate cake” 😄 (Mom made it toddler-friendly by omitting the coffee), and it’s still super moist and so good.

Thank you for supporting my mom’s little journey ❤️

The photos you see were taken across two separate visits. I have to say, RJ consistently improves and refreshes their menu. Every year there’s something new to try. They’re very innovative when it comes to experimenting with flavours, with creative dishes like the bunga kantan carbonara pasta. The terung bakar pasta was also quite unique and pleasantly surprising.

They offer some interesting drinks as well. Many of their food and beverage combinations use ingredients I would never have thought to pair together, yet they work really well and taste great. The ambience is very cosy and comfortable, with tasteful decor that feels especially charming during the Christmas season.

Loved everything we tried! The chicken chop was the only dish I felt could use some improvement, mainly in portion and presentation. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and I’m excited to keep coming back to try their new menu each year.

We discovered this place while Googling where to eat and were honestly surprised we’d never noticed it before. It’s quite easy to miss if you’re just driving past, but I’m really glad we found it. One big plus for families is that they have a rack full of toys to keep toddlers entertained and you can even bring the toys to your table.

The menu is very extensive with lots of choices, so it took us quite a while to decide. We initially wanted to try their pizza, but unfortunately they had run out of dough. Then we considered the sea bass, but they were out of rice at the time and we would’ve had to wait for a new batch to be cooked. In the end, we went with the burgers.

The burger turned out to be really good, generous portion and great value for the price. The daun ubi fried rice with chicken wings was also very tasty and fragrant, and the portion was big. The satay chicken with rice was satisfying as well, the chicken was juicy and tender. We also tried the truffle cheese rice, it was okay for me (a bit too soupy and creamy for my taste 😆), but my sister enjoyed it. Every dish we ordered came with side salad and seaweed soup except for the burgers that came with French fries.

Overall, the experience exceeded our expectations. The crowd wasn’t too heavy, making it a comfortable place to dine. Prices and quality are very reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes and the free flow drinks like orange water and lime water. They also serve coffee and tea. Service was quick, friendly, and polite.

Definitely a family-friendly spot worth trying if you’re in Miri.

[non-halal] This is what I call premium Sarawak noodle 🤣
Presentation? On point. Price? Definitely premium, above average for Sarawak noodle like kolo mee, but you can tell the effort went into every bowl. Portion is huge. Noodles are slightly over cooked for my preference but taste is alright, decent. I enjoyed their blended chili though.

I don’t know about most Sarawakians, but personally, I’ve always felt smaller portions of kolo mee just taste better. The texture holds up, flavors don’t get muddled, and you can always go for a second bowl if you’re still hungry. Somehow… it just hits different that way.

Overall, it’s worth a try if you haven’t been here before.

Located beneath an aging apartment block in Cheras Business Centre (Located upstairs) 7th Mile Kitchen serves up soulful, authentic Sarawakian noodles in a humble, no-frills setting. Ideal for breakfast or brunch when you’re craving for Sarawak noodle like laksa, mee kolo, kueh tiaw tomato, without the hassle of long queues at trendier spots. The eatery has a classic kopitiam vibe, ceiling fans, no air-conditioning, and minimal decor. Very limited seating. Prices are budget-friendly, averaging around RM10 per person, and it’s probably one of the most affordable places to get decent kolo mee in KL.

When we decided to visit, we hadn’t noticed the Google reviews mentioning their use of disposable bowls and cutlery for dine-in. While waiting for our food, I saw quite a few customers bringing their own containers and bowls for takeaway. Likely regulars who know the drill. Since it’s just a husband-and-wife team running the place without extra staff, I can understand their choice to minimize washing by using disposables, although it isn’t environmentally friendly. So, if you’re planning to try them, bring your own bowl and don’t be like me.🤣

Mom was craving nasi kerabu, so we brought her here to avoid the long lines at the more popular spots. It was decent for a first try. Portion is huge. A friend suggests to try their sup daging and daging harimau menangis. Didn’t order it this round. Maybe next time. Can be quite humid and hot during lunch time.
