I, Arkanjelo Maker Kuoi Ghak, Chairman of Yirol East Wrestling Association, issue this statement with full responsibility to the people of Greater Yirol, the friends and supporters of Lakes State, and Wrestling Without Borders (WWB).
The planned engagement with WWB to proceed to Gulu was interrupted at Nimule border due to an internal misunderstanding, which unfortunately allowed enemies of progress to interfere. As a result, our team returned to Juba. This outcome is regrettable.
On behalf of the Yirol East wrestlers and leadership, I sincerely apologize to the sons and daughters of Lakes State who had prepared resources and goodwill to receive our wrestlers. We ask for your forgiveness and political understanding. By God’s grace, we shall meet next time, and this commitment remains firm.
I further inform our people that WWB wrestling activities are ongoing, with matches between Mundari of Terekeka County and Bor County, and the program will proceed to Kampala City and Nairobi, Kenya, carrying the message of unity, peace, and regional cooperation.
This incident must not divide us. Our struggle is for unity, youth empowerment, and peace through sport. The mission continues.
