Astro Premieres ‘Aadhira’ on 14 July — A New Drama about Strength and Courage
Kuala Lumpur, 8 July 2025 – Astro, Malaysia’s leading content and entertainment company, champions women empowerment through its latest Vinmeen exclusive series, Aadhira, premiering this 14 July, 9pm on Astro Vinmeen (Ch 202) available via TV, Astro GO, On Demand, and sooka.
Adapted from the popular local Malay series, Syurga Itu Bukan Mudah, Aadhira is reimagined with an urban and lavish touch that aims to encourage women to speak up and act against all forms of abuse, including domestic violence. It encourages seeking help rather than suffering in silence. Directed by R. Azizan, the series marks Rubini Sambanthan’s debut in a leading role as Aadhira - a bold and resilient character who breaks stereotypes, defies traditional gender roles, overcomes challenges, and upholds financial independence.
Aadhira follows the journey of a strong, independent woman whose life takes a dark turn after marriage. Her husband Dharma’s abusive behavior and ties to a toxic male group pushes her to the edge, especially when their child’s safety is threatened. As Aadhira battles manipulation and trauma, she must decide whether to fight for her freedom and protect her child by seeking a divorce or continue enduring the pain in hopes of change.
