If you’re new here, hello! We’re Megs & Alex 👋 We’ve been travelling full-time for the last 2 years.

One of the biggest lessons we’ve learnt from travelling long-term is how to make our money stretch further..

Our biggest expenses when travelling? Accommodation.

So, here are three simple ways we’ve learnt to reduce our accommodation costs and make our money go further 👇

1️⃣ Look beyond the city centre
Don’t just compare hotels in the most popular areas. Look at nearby neighbourhoods as one or two metro stops away can save you hundreds - it often also gives you more space and better value for money.

2️⃣ Stay longer
Before booking, check the weekly and monthly rates. Longer stays can unlock discounts and bring down your average nightly cost, while also saving you money on transport between destinations.

3️⃣ Pet sit 🐶
This has been a game changer for us. We use Trusted Housesitters to stay in people’s homes for free in exchange for looking after their pets while they’re away. We’re currently using pet sitting for almost all of our accommodation, saving us thousands of pounds every month on accommodation and bills.

Travelling more doesn’t always mean spending more - sometimes, it’s about making your money go further!
