✨ Another boost for Malaysia’s tourism momentum as we head toward Visit Malaysia 2026.
Spring Airlines has officially launched its new daily Shanghai–Kuala Lumpur flight, arriving at a perfect time when arrivals from China are climbing steadily. From January to August alone, Malaysia welcomed 3.3 million Chinese visitors — a 27.5% increase from last year and already close to the 3.7 million recorded for the whole of 2024.
With this new daily service, connectivity between Eastern China and Malaysia becomes even stronger. Shanghai remains one of China’s most influential outbound markets, and improved accessibility often translates directly into:
• higher FIT and family traffic
• stronger demand for hotels and attractions
• better reach for regional destinations like Sabah, Sarawak, Langkawi, Penang, Melaka and Johor
• more opportunities for cultural, economic and tourism collaboration
For tourism industry partners, this is a clear signal:
2026 will be a high-opportunity year.
Visa-free travel + increased flight capacity + steady demand = the perfect window to strengthen presence on Chinese platforms, refresh product offerings, and capture early interest before VMY2026.
Malaysia is ready to showcase its hospitality, culture, and landscapes — and the industry can expect even more potential as airlines, airports and agencies continue working together to expand routes and enhance connectivity.
