Kankuji Temple made of gold was the first temple i visited and thereafter Tenryu-ji Temple ( Temple of the heavenly dragon) where the site was established in the 9th century and historically significant as the first zen temple in Japan. Garden here is beside the maim hall retaining same form when it was designed by Muso Soseki in the 14th century and in 1994 this garden is named Sogenchi garden first special historical secenic area named and designated by United Nations as World Cultural Heritage site. Arashiyama Bamboo forest next door to it is amazingly beautiful. All located in Sagano -Arashiyama district of Kyoto.
