Process Presents: An Afternoon of Objects

In Process Presents Ep. 8, presented at MossFest 2026, we are celebrating the tactile and analogue by having the makers of goodpairsocks, Odddept and of course, Mossery share about their work.

Process Presents is a series of talks centred around the creative process.
 🔨 Space, Object, Space w/ Odddept [2pm–3pm]
As co-founder of Penang-based EMPT Studio, Jamie Kok spends most of his time designing spaces. In time, they found themselves making furniture for these spaces, and the rest became Odddept.

💥 small things matter w/ Goodpairsocks [3:30pm–4:30pm]
Goodpairsocks founder Sam Wong shares how design can bring joy to an everyday routine. In this talk, she reflects on her journey of making and trying things; and how she has to pull her socks up to figure things out.

💥 Permission to Create w/ Mossery [5pm–6pm]
Mossery co-founder Jun Lim shares what he’s learnt from challenging the norm: from childhood and art school, to starting a company. In following his curiosity, it eventually led to the ideas behind Mossery.

“Perhaps this is where the temptation to monetise hobbies creeps in - to formalise the activity and make it if not palatable then at least understandable to the world. Measurable outcomes are the holy grail of all pursuits. If you can build a following on Instagram and convert leads into revenue, then maybe, just maybe you can justify the time and energy spent on your craft.

Skateboarding resists this commodification, but it’s far from immune. Once a haven for weirdos and misfits, it now faces an identity crisis as corporate giants like Nike pump unprecedented sums of money into the “sport.” It feels increasingly awkward to call skateboarding a counterculture when it appears everywhere from Louis Vuitton to the Olympics.”

“With the state of the world right now, where so many things are being mass-produced, we really want to keep sustainability in mind with what we do. That’s the beauty of 3D printing, because every item is done on a made-to-order basis and can be done at a very small scale.

When we come up with a new design, we normally produce a few samples in different colours and put them up on Instagram. From there, when people see them and want to order them, they can DM us.”

Through small-scale, made-to-order 3D printing, SAD Studio (SAD) co-founder, tattoo artist and illustrator Sugee Wee (舒淇黃) shares how the company embraces a slower, more sustainable approach to design.

“When I first started, what I did was definitely an art practice, but as I grow older, I focus more on understanding the client because the work is a byproduct of that relationship, so that’s very important. In the past, I have had clients where we did not see eye to eye so I didn’t enjoy the work and then the work would be subpar. ⁣
⁣
Last year after I quit my agency job, I was offered a job with a music label to do marketing and that was my dream job, you know? They offered me a really good package and everything, but I turned down that job because I wanted more time with my family, so I focused on freelancing. I work remotely now, and last year I started being more picky with my clients and jobs.”⁣
