DAP’s outgoing Skudai assemblyperson, Marina Ibrahim, has rejected claims that she is afraid of contesting in Malay-majority areas, recalling an incident in which she was once spat on.

“Do I also need to recount how a Chinese friend and I walked into Felda areas alone during the campaign, distributing flyers and meeting villagers?

“I am a Malay woman who once had a man spit on my face while campaigning. So do you think I really care (about contesting in Malay-majority areas)?” she added, saying that although she was reluctant to comment further on politics, she felt compelled to respond to what she described as false narratives being spread.

Former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is set to be fully discharged from his sentence under a royal pardon granted in conjunction with the occasion of Queen Suthida’s birthday today.

Thai Justice Minister Rutthapon Naowarat said Thaksin’s name was included in the list of individuals granted a royal pardon following the publication in the Royal Gazette of a Royal Command by King Maha Vajiralongkorn issuing the Royal Decree on Royal Pardons 2026.

Rutthapon said that, under Section 8 of the decree, Thaksin would be immediately released from the remainder of his sentence as he had less than one year left to serve.

Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung has claimed that he is the second PKR lawmaker to lose access to the MyKhas online portal, which is used to manage constituency development allocations, among others.

In a statement, Lee alleged that his office has been unable to access the portal since May 29, adding that he decided to announce the matter publicly today to prevent public uncertainty.

“To the best of my knowledge, this may be the first time in the country’s history that two government MPs no longer have access to the constituency allocation channel."

The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has found that Malaysia is among 54 economies which failed to impose and effectively enforce a prohibition on the importation of goods produced with forced labour.

Describing the failure of the US’ most important trading partners to address the importation of goods made with forced labour as “unacceptable,” US trade representative Jamieson Greer warned that Washington will no longer tolerate such “disparity.”

This, Greer said, is because such a situation has created a dynamic where American workers are forced to compete globally on an uneven playing field.

Lawyers for Na’imah Abdul Khalid have questioned police’s supposed lack of updates regarding a report filed against PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar for allegedly engaging a foreign consulting firm to exert pressure on then-prime minister Najib Abdul Razak a decade ago.

In a statement today, the lawyers said police’s probes against Na’imah under Section 124B of the Penal Code exposed a “glaring disparity in statutory thresholds” when contrasted with the “unaddressed” report against Nurul Izzah, who is also Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s daughter.

Section 124B criminalises activities deemed detrimental to parliamentary democracy and carries a jail term of up to 20 years.
