๐Ÿ“ข New Research Alert: Burnout and Interpersonal Communication Among Inpatient Medical Nurses ๐Ÿฉบ

A recent study published in the Malaysian Journal of Medical Research explored the relationship between burnout and interpersonal communication among inpatient medical nurses. The findings highlight how burnout, characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation, and reduced personal achievement, can negatively impact communication skills, ultimately affecting the quality of care provided to patients.

๐Ÿ” Key Findings:

Emotional Exhaustion: 81% of nurses reported low levels of emotional exhaustion.

Depersonalisation: 79.8% experienced low depersonalisation.

Personal Achievement: 100% of respondents showed high personal achievement.

Negative Relationship: Statistical analysis reveals a significant negative relationship between burnout and interpersonal communication (p-value: 0.000 < 0.05).

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Prof. Dr. Kaki Bale Swamy, Director of International Affairs, Lincoln University College, Malaysia, on 9th September 2025.

In accordance with his wishes, his body has been donated to the Anatomy Department of King George Hospital, Visakhapatnam, India.

Prof. Dr. Swamy served with distinction as Professor of Anatomy at Lincoln University College, Malaysia (since October 2017), and as a valued Editorial Board Member of the Malaysian Journal of Medical Research (MJMR).

MJMR Celebrates World Breastfeeding Week!

Every year from August 1โ€“7, the global community raises awareness about the vital role of breastfeeding in early childhood health and maternal well being.
In a recent MJMR featured study conducted in Selangor, exclusive breastfeeding rates among caesarean-delivered mothers were just 50.9%, with only 31.1% initiating within the first hour of birth. These figures reinforce the need for targeted support, education, and policy interventions to promote timely initiation, sustained breastfeeding, and maternal confidence.
