The rumoured cabinet reshuffle is more than likely to occur soon, after Ewon Benedick quit as the entrepreneurship and cooperatives development minister over disagreements on Sabah's 40 percent revenue entitlement.

At the minimum, there will be two vacancies after Dec 2, when Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz's second and final term as senator expires.

The terms of three other senator ministers - Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Higher Education Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir, and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Na'im Mokhtar - are also due to end on Dec 2.

However, the trio are only on their first term as senators, and a three-year extension is the more probable outcome.

The seven Harimau Malaya “heritage” players are reportedly considering legal action against the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for compensation over loss of income and potential termination of their job contracts.

Citing a source, the New Straits Times reported yesterday that the players have been in talks with lawyers abroad after the International Federation of Association Football (Fifa) suspended them over allegations of document forgery.

“They can do so (sue FAM) and it would not be surprising, given the financial impact of the bans.

"A compensation claim would also help clear their names and make it easier for them to find new clubs after the suspension,” the source was quoted as saying.
