David Hogan Photography

David Hogan Photography Explorer Lifestyle focuses on all kinds of travel, food and adventure all around Malaysia, Borneo and even Southeast Asia.

I’m a Malaysian independent photographer curating unforgettable photography adventures across Kuala Lumpur, the wild beauty of Sabah Borneo, and exotic destinations like Nepal and Japan. These aren’t just tours—they’re immersive, visually rich experiences designed to ignite your creativity, deepen your connection to place, and capture the world with fresh eyes.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 11 years since I started this Facebook group. As of 2025, I’ve decided to give it a fresh new direction by renaming it to reflect my photography journey. From now on, this page will focus entirely on photography—something that has always been close to my heart.

Initially, this group began in 2014 as a scuba diving community. I had been diving since 2006, and by popular request, I created a space to share underwater photos and even offer unique diving gear. I continued with it until I retired from scuba diving in 2018.

Since then, the page has been mostly inactive—until now. On June 5th, 2025, I’m officially revamping it to align with my passion for photography. For those who don’t know, I’ve been behind the lens since the early '90s, starting with film cameras, then transitioning into digital, and now working with mirrorless systems and smartphones.

Thanks for being part of this journey. I look forward to sharing more of my work with you here.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share that the last few years have been pretty up and down for many of us and, of course, the entire world. So, my FB page here took a nap to let things recover. It's now 2023, and I've recently started to explore.

My 1st major trip was to a beautiful resort at Khao Lak (Yups, not a commercial destination), about 90 minutes drive north of Phuket. I spent 5 days here at the LA VELA KHAO LAK Resort, exploring this new & interesting destination that is about something other than shopping or entertainment. It's a pure beach, nature & culture - the type of tourism that has been forgotten over the years.

So, I will be sharing more information about this amazing destination aimed to attract pure holiday fans! Stay tuned. This photo was also taken with my Galaxy S23 Ultra on 19th Feb 2023.

Warming up to 2023, here's a shot taken at Santubong Beach in Sarawak. This is one of the best beaches in terms of general tourism. Plus, it's just opposite the world-famous Sarawak Cultural Village, where the Rainforest World Music Festival takes place yearly.

How time flies during the MCO, it's already mid-Feb of 2021. Soon it will be June, then December and then 2022. And the best part is that majority of us have not travelled out of the country since March 2020. How about that?

Well, until this thing is settled, we can only stay here and hope for the best. Take care and always be safe wherever you are, and please, please FOLLOW the SOPs.
