Bitcoin's 7-day average hashrate dropped to 915.8 EH/s on September 26, the lowest in three weeks, decreasing by approximately 34.86 million TH/s within a week, while miner reserves simultaneously decreased by 1,530 BTC.
The main reason for the decline is that some mining companies have redirected their hashrate toward AI contracts; for example, Hyperscale Data has shut down its Michigan mining facility to prepare for AI operations, and Ethiopia has also reduced power supply to miners due to declining reservoir water levels.
Michael Saylor once again released information about the Bitcoin Tracker, possibly hinting at increasing his holdings in BTC.
Hyperliquid founder Jeff Yan posted in Discord: "Based on user feedback, in the next network upgrade the funding rate cap will be adjusted from 4% per hour to 0.5% per hour. Please note that in practice this cap is very rarely reached.
French authorities have placed Svetlana A. under formal investigation as they examine whether alleged manipulation of Verasity’s $VRA token helped finance tens of millions of euros in Dubai property purchases. Arrested in July in the Alpes-Maritimes and later detained, she was placed under investigation for alleged organized fraud, aggravated laundering of tax-fraud proceeds and criminal conspiracy. Investigators suspect Svetlana A. and her British partner, Robert H., were involved in alleged organized fraud via manipulation of a cryptocurrency exchange rate; Le Monde identified the token as $VRA, which rose roughly 65-fold in spring 2021 before reversing. Investigators have not released transaction-level evidence.
Le Monde reported Svetlana A. spent more than €50 million in 2022 on about 100 apartments and three luxury villas across roughly 15 Dubai buildings, generating at least €4 million in rental income between 2022 and 2025. Records show a June 2022 purchase of Amara Residences for 68 million dirhams (~€17.4 million) that was later transferred in Feb. 2024 to an Abu Dhabi company. Public patent and corporate filings link Svetlana Astakhova and Robert James Mark Hain to Verasity-related technology and Veraviews; Companies House shows changes in control. The allegations remain under judicial investigation and mise en examen does not equal guilt.
