Next stop......

We leave Vietnam next week and head back to Melbourne

We'll be housesitting again and meeting up with Jeff after 3 months apart ❤️

For two years I thought the goal was to get out of the UK. Flights, visa, somewhere with better weather.

Turns out the goal wasn't really that at all

It’s when you stop doing the thing you were supposed to want and start choosing the thing you actually do want instead ✨️

Nobody tells you about that option in life. They hand you the other.... the job, the mortgage, the stuff you're meant to have achieved and ticked off by the time you're in your 30s

Stepping away from that doesn't have to be a huge step but it does take determination and bit of courage

Jai doesn't care about any of this. He just knows the pool's warm and we're heading out to a science lesson with his friends in an hour 😍

School is the biggest worry I hear from parents who want to travel the world with their kids

And I get it because I had the same worries

But there are so many more ways to learn than sitting in a classroom and worldschooling offers kids way more opportunities to learn

From home education to online tutors to hubs to following their interests.....

We left the uk two years ago as a family. pulled Jai out of school, left our jobs, our friends and family, sold all our stuff, rented out our property and went ✈️

What nobody tells you is how fast the way you think about life changes.

Two years in and i'm not thinking about the way back at all. I’m thinking about where next, what Jai's actually learning, where can we be with communities that make us feel welcome and support us, where we want to be - not where we came from.

And it makes me think about how much of who I thought I was, was just where I lived, the school runs. we'd anchored ourselves to a place so much that leaving felt like losing part of yourself 😌

But really leaving is where you find yourself 🥰

If you're going to Hoi An don’t miss 🦆

This place was amazing for the kids (and us grown ups too!)
They run regular workshops and the kids get to feed the ducks, pigs and goats, collect duck eggs, identify fertilised and unfertilised eggs, learn about the hatching process and then play with the baby chicks and ducklings 🐥

Plus they got to plant some vegetable plants and feed the fish.

But the most exciting part was when we got to see a brand new duckling hatching from its egg 🐣
Super cute and so much fun 😁

Thailand cost us more than I planned 😳
And I already knew it wasn't the cheapest place in the world

So here's what we spent in a month here, next to our old UK life

I'm not going to pretend I nailed the budget. I didn't 😆

We ate out more than I meant to, the Grab rides added up, and the kids activites cost way more than I intended

But here's the thing nobody selling the dream tells you: it still came in under our old UK life 🇬🇧

Not because Thailand is some bargain. It isn't
But because the total cost of freedom, connection and easy living is still way less than the price of hustle and stress and pressure at home

The freedom is the point ✌️
